You mite want to ask the service station what winter additive they add to there fuel.

I'm getting 460 per tank. Roughly 26mpg. With a bunch of running around on the weekends and highway during the week.

I'm going to make some performance mods and see how it affects mileage.

FWIW,

I had my injectors replaced with rebuilts last week and had the ip timing checked and adjusted.

I am currently at 257 miles with just a hair under a half tank to go.

My mechanic tells me he leaned it out. He still wants to check as he feels it is a bit sluggish still. He will go in and check the timing chain stretch in a week or so.

I also am leaking oil from under the IP and he has to remove to repace the gaskets. He suggest to send it to get calibated once it's out.

I'm pretty sure I will get to the 30 mpg range or better once that's done.

I'll let you guys know what I wind up with on this tank.

please keep us informed on "leaking under the IP". I just picked up my SDL on friday and drove it home from NC. there is a widening oil slick in the area of under the IP. If there is a gasket to replace there it does not sound like much fun.

Well I sure won't be doing it my self. Too complicated for me as I don't have the time.

Mine isn't so bad, I lose a quart every 5000 miles. However, I am anal about leaks and we know they don't get better.

Will keep you posted

mileage update

Just filled up last night. 495 miles on 16.5 gallons fuel (95%highway-5other). A solid 30 MPG Now to add the Redline fuel catalyst. On my ford I know it made a 10% mileage difference to the good. Then on with the other mods.

Ash here:

I know my odo's slipping/hanging up... but still...
I think I added the parts right, and ended up with about 230 miles for 15 gallons. Granted, that's a lot of WFO 'tuning up', as well as shunting some of the overflow to my grease tank... how much volume do 300D's overflow?

Now, I get to search for an 'odo repair' thread.

Cheers!

On my new '84 300D, on its 3rd tank of B20, I just got 450 Miles on 15.5 gal for 29 MPG of 60% highway / 40% small towns along the highway driving.

Seems pretty good to me for a 3500 lb car! Heck, it's better than my 4 liter BMW!

Oh yeah I forgot I am hooking up my SVO system this weekend My diesel fuel mileage is going to go through the roof.....Start and purg only I fiqure 2-3K per tank of diesel easy....Maybe I should add a little storage additive so it doesnt go bad before I burn it

Ash: Who's system are you using? I built my own using Dana's plans for the heater etc. ~ $300 in tank and parts all new no salvage. I dont have extra time for the scrounging, not that I don't enjoy it.

Much more than you think. I performed an experiment on my 240D to find this out last time I did a diesel purge. It normally takes about 20 minutes to run through a can when you do it the right way - return line going back into the source container. But I ran the return line into an empty diesel purge can and it ran through in about 2 minutes.

Hey, did you guys hijack my thread? Cool..........

I just thought I'd let you all know I just hit 300 miles on this tank and I still have a little more than 1/3 to go.

I'm guessing about 475 on this tank......mostly a more city than/hwy mix.

If I were open hwy all the time, at least 650 per tank.

I'm at 410 miles right now and the idiot light is on.

IS it me or do all of the Mercedes gas gauges just a little off?

Even when I fill it up all the way(diesel almost spills out) it never quite goes all the way.

My dads 240 is the same way.??????????
