Strange AC Issue...
So, I know I have a slight Freon leak. I had my system charged in August. Then I moved to Florida, and the AC worked GREAT. Spent three months down there, now I'm two months back in NJ, and the AC blows luke warm. No more cold! Do you think all the freon could have leaked when I moved back to the Northeast? Maybe the change to cold weather did it?
Is the fact that I'm out of freon, is that damaging the compressor or other components? I really appreciare the help guys... As always... |

I guess I'm a bit confused... You know your A/C system had a slight leak and now the freon has leaked out and the system no longer works... And that is strange? Did you expect that it would continue to operate forever? What happend seems pretty normal to me.
On most A/C systems there is a pressure switch in the system that will prevent the compressor from engaging if there is insufficent freon in the system for proper operation. If this switch is working on your system (and you indeed don't have freon) you will not be able to turn on the A/C system. |

if you didn't use it for awhile when you came north it could have leaked out sufficient freon that it will not turn the compressor on anymore.
had the same thing happen to me when my son used the car for 6 months and did not use the a/c at all. needed a re-charge to get it going again.

Well, it worked just last week. I turn it on once a week, regardless. But what i thought was strange is that it just went so fast. Living in Fla for three months, it worked perfectly. You would think it would have stopped then, when it was justed every minute of everday. Thanks guys.
