Well, in our family it started with one MB....then another the following year....then another.....then two last year! 5 MB's have been accumulated in 6 years....once I have more $$ the situation will only get worse....

As I look at every benz on the street and wonder if it too is a diesel.
As I continually mention the benefits of diesel power to every friend shopping for their next (new or used) vehicle.
As I continuously search for bargains on W123s and W124s in my area, hoping to find a deal and have another.
As I start putting more miles on my benz than on the Mustangs and Porsches I used to prefer to drive daily.....

You have to suspect there might be some obsession.

But I dont think so. These cars are just great. I hope one day my little girl gets to appreciate them as we do. That will be her choice to make.

I must be

Everyone around me thinks I am insane. You see in this part of Canada everyone is very 'grey'. They buy the same ugly cookie-cutter, treeless-lot tract houses, they wear the same clothes. They pretty much think the same way.

Honest to god, we might as well be in the old DDR for all the good people make of the immense freedoms we still enjoy (sorry off on a tangent here)....

Everyone drives a Toyota Yaris, a Honda Civic, an F-150 or a Dodge Ram 4 x4. Or an old Ford Fusion that hasn't been washed in six months.

At least there used to be the local guy who drove a Citroen DS every day, to make me feel less of an oddity. (He even used to tow a trailer to the topsoil place to get his gardening soil, with the DS. That's commitment.)

But I haven't seen the DS for a year. So here I am left to wander West Quebec in my w123s, like some sort of itinerant priest for an obscure, osolete eastern religion. When I visit a shop (as infrequently as I can manage) I can almost here an audible chorus of sighs from inside the bays: "Oh *****, HIM again."

Yeah, I guess I'm obsessed

At my age I had to give up on girls. Way too much noise. High maintenance costs. Not necessarily reliable. More show than go.

Now I try to stick to women instead

My story is different.

I bought the 300SD because I worked for the dealer and it was a nice car that was had cheap. I fixed it up and had some fun with it, but then tried to sell it. The car just never sold, so I kept it.

I think I have become obsessed with its reliability and recently have started putting some good money into it.

Every few dollars I spend really yields a return; I mean the car responds to every dollar spent and gives back change...

That was an AMAZING video! Kinds firms up my latent desire to get a 123 wagon.

There's one part where the sun glints on the three-pointed star that's still on the hood. Simply amazing. I WANT to get another Merc, and the next Merc I get WILL BE a 123 Wagon. The only problem is, I have no more space.

I keep telling my wife that we need to move even further out into the sticks, and maybe get a small farm like 5 acres or so...so that I can grow my own vegetables and raise my own pigs.

I think she's on to me....

Cmon' down to Murland, eh? Everyone house I see with a W123 usually has another runner sitting next to it, or one in the back yard for parts...
