The small one, or the large one?

IIRC it's the same part number for both o-rings on the oil filter stem despite the difference in installed diameter. I used whatever o-ring fit from an assortment I got at the McParts store.

This has been documented elsewhere... search the forum. Pretty sure it's the smaller of the two O-rings included with new fuel filter kits. MB # 009-997-81-48. Price sure went up, they had been under a buck each, now $6.50 list...

I actually did search, but for whatever reason (maybe cockpit error) I struck out. I also remember seeing a post on removing and installing the stop lever. I kind of remember that not doing it right could cause the engine to rev and not be able to shut it off. I can;t find that any more either...

Doing more than you should is a bad idea. Simply removing the handle and a washer for access to the o-ring that has to be replaced shouldn't expose the IP to a runaway risk.

I think the dealer gave me the wrong size o-rings. I just went by there to pick some up and made a little longer trip to a Bosch diesel repair center and bought some of the Bosch ones. The ones Bosch gave me are larger and I remember the ones that came with the filter to be larger. I buy from them a lot so I got them for free, but even so, I think they are wrong. I'll see what it looks like when I pull it out. |

The runaway risk is when replacing the vacuum shutoff pod, if you don't confirm the lever travel after replacing the vac pod.
There's zero risk when replacing the shutoff lever O-ring, that job is all external. :chinese1: |
