1985 300sd

1985 300sd with 202k. I bought it this summer with dreams of going veggie. Currently driving it in town with the windows down (AC broke). Runs and drives fine, but needs TLC. Anyone in Columbus, OH want to give me an opinion on what I should tackle first? Free beer will be provided. Contact me directly if you want to help.

Chris

It's been almost three years since I participated on this forum, and it's good to be back!
We bought an '85 300SD Dark silver with grey leather interior, heated memory seats, very nice.
Bought it from the original owners son with 253,000 KM's on the clock. Sold in 1985 in Calgary at Lonestar Mercedes.
Has a little cancer starting in the rear drivers wheel opening, needs sunroof seal, back glass seal, driver's seat bottom springs, crack in the dash, new wood paneling kit throughout (sat outside on Vancouver Island for a year, moisture 'popped' all the wood), shocks, has Euro headlights but drivers side has eaten too many rocks!!
Other than these minor problems, the car is mint.
My wife is using it as a daily driver, and we're getting 770kms to the tank on average! I think the tank is a 75L.

Haven't posted in a while...

Thought I'd add my new baby...
1983 300TD with 431,000 miles on the ORIGINAL engine and transmission...No blowby or tranny slips. The SD was professionally maintained by a Mercedes mechanic in central California. Interior was replaced with the interior from a newer SDL. Paint is absolutely horrible, but the interior is perfect. Even the original R-12 A/C works!!! PS, it has snow tires on the back...Thus the bunt-cake rims... Bought it for $1000 and some labor...lol

'85 300sd

I picked up my 1985 300SD in July of '06. She has 265,000 miles and some rust but I have been gradually repairing all the little things and I plan on keeping her till she dies. My son is 9 and loves the old girl and told me he wants it for his first car.

I have one '82 300SD, wife's car, we bought it new in mid-1982 at Stephenson Motors (the then-MB dealer) in Dallas and she's driven it for over 260K - around 10K a year. Needs paint - too many years in the Texas sun, but other than that, it's perfect - all books and records from day one and everything works. We'll get it painted this summer - same metallic silver gray with gray leather.

1981 300SD. Purchased in 1984. 255,000 miles. New transmission at 125K (about 1991) and new AC (about 2001). Nothing else. Runs like new; looks very good inside and out. About 18-20 MPG in town. All records since car was purchased new in 1981.
