240D engine needed

Howdy,
My mechanic needs a used engine for an '85 240D--non turbo 4 cylinder automatic transmission. Any leads would be appreciated. Larry

The last US model 240D was the '83.

Just pulled a bunch of parts from one at a "U-pull-it" yard that had 107k on it (just broken in.)

I think they get $129 for an engine.

I have a brand new rebuilt one in Southern New Jersey--

My 240D got tanked and the engine sits at Dirkes Junkyard in South Jersey..its a 240D engine I rebuilt myself, doesnt lose a drop of oil,'
Sorry I can give you Dirkes number but I am just too busy to act as an intermediary to effect its movement...because right now I have insomnia and i'm up at 3 am writing this..
Dirkes will charge you only 150 but U have to pull it and ship it , all i can do is verify the engine, start it, and see if its okay

"The last US model 240D was the '83."

The last year the 240D was build was "85", they were not imported into this country after "83" So his car must be a Euro model.

I was at my friend's shop today and he was packing up the engine to ship ...
He told me what he sold it for and I could not believe it. He gave it away.. I offered him $$$ for it right on the spot and I had my truck with me to load it onto.
He politely refused stating that he made a deal and will stick to it...

I wanted you to see what kind of a person he is.

The engine is excellent, I heard it run on several occasions. It starts at the turn of the key with no glow... (warm weather obviously)

Unfortunately this deal has gone sour. Both Larry and me are in the middle, so to speak.
.
It seems that my (trusting) friend sent the engine without it being paid for, to Illinois.

Larry's (trusting) friend installed the engine and has not been paid for it.

Needless to say, the seller of the engine has not recieved any money yet from the installer....

After almost 6 months and many phone calls from me the person that bought this engine paid my friend in full.

I am sure Larry felt bad too but his hands were tied.
