Thanks Rick, Ive been reading mercedesshop for the past year when we acquired a 190E and eversince that Ive been coming back here!

We bought this beauty from an older gentelman who had the car since new! All records etc...I gotta tell you this car is mint, body is great and the motor purrs

I saw the car yesterday on autotrader and today we bought it! My parents weren't even looking at buying a new car as we just bought a C230 but my dad always loved the diesels and this was a great opportunity!

I need to know any preventative maintenance that should be done, the car has 158XXX km. Also is there anything I should watchout for. It has the 3.0 I6 NA diesel engine.

What a great day it was, I would have never imagined that we would even go and check out the car but my my dad and I went to see it and we were back 1h later with deposit money!

Nice!

I've said this so many times but I still want a 1995 E300. If only they had made a turbo version of it

Congratulations!

Isn't the engine the same as the 99 E300 Turbo Diesel? With the naked eye, they look pretty familiar, except with a turbo. I was thinking about doing that if i ever got a 95 E300 (almost did too for $7500)

I think the 99 E300 are the same engines. Can anyone of you diesel friends post any technical info on the 3.0L diesel engine.

95-99 all have the OM606. 98 and 99 added the turbo. Search here for "OM606" and it shouldn't be hard to find what you're looking for.

That is odd how it's NA but still has the slits on the right fender! I thought it was the 2.5 turbos that only did that.

Ya its NA motor but it has the slits on the side for air intake. I guess its a Benz trademark for a diesel. Whenever I spot a MB I look if it has the slit in the fender and that ususally tells if its a diesel

BTW what kind of gas milage should I expect from the 3.0L NA diesel? Ive read 26MPG mixed driving, is that any close?

I was told by the mechanic that was selling his that its capable of 35 (more highway driving) and 25-29 city. But I guess like all things on a vehicle, it depends on the driver.

Today was another good day as my dad and I picked up the car from seller. I washed it and I have not found any rust spots. Later on I looked through all the records and all of them are there. Last time the tranny was sericed at 60K.

I need to know what sort of items should I look at. SO far I came up with the following:

1. Tranny fluid and filter change ( MB dealer fluid and filter)
2. Fuel Filters (where are they in the car?)
3. Differential Oil change
4. Cooling system flush?

Does anyone has any suggestions?
