I probably could have waited and found a cheaper pump on Ebay, but I wanted to try to get this thing going quickly, so I paid $200 for the pump. Supposed to have come out of a running car, but I found crap in the injector holes, so I put my old ones on, and after a few minutes had good fuel pumpage. I can't find the pics.

I wanted to run this by you guys. The car is trying so hard, but won't start. I keep getting the speeding up of the starter, and some smoke out the back, but won't quite go.
What about the injectors being clogged? Some fuel may be getting in, but without a fine mist spraying, it won't go. Sounds like a sound theory to me. If I wasn't working so much these last couple weeks, I'd get them tested.

I assume you have this IP somewhat timed correctly? Also, maybe try plugging it in if it's got a block heater.
Thanks David

David, I hope I have the pump in correctly. Did the bubble method, which seemed to work out fine. Still havent' had much of a chance to work on the MB, but sure seem to have time to work on the house.. Maybe tonight I can take out the GP's and do a compression test.

Make sure that you have the IP timed right. I had my IP opening at 24BTDC with the #1 cam lobe down. It ran, but real crappy and very hard to start, no power, etc. Once I thought about it, I realized that the fuel delivery has to occur with both valves closed for proper operation(duh). The difference was as you might expect, rather striking

What was the final solution to your issue???

Final solution was the junkyard in Brooklyn sold me a bad injection pump. I had the injector hard lines off of the IP, and it would not pump out of 2,3,4, or 5 while cranking. So, I was previously incorrect in saying I had good pumpage. Instead of putting more money into a rusting car, I sold parts and junked it. I did go back on a couple of occasions and get parts off of it, but it's been gone for a while now.
