Loads of Mercedes in Transformers movies when they're battling in the Middle-East.

One of the Decepticons sucks up and shreds a gold W123 240D or 300D with hubbies. You also see a china blue W115 regularly in action shots, and soldiers hunkered down behind a euro W116.

Jack Weston takes a walk on a frozen lake and falls through thin ice. Then his friends decide it would be a great idea to drive his new Mercedes onto the ice to attach a rope and pull him out. While they're attending to a cold, soggy Jack, he has the perfect veiw of his new Mercedes slipping under. His wailing is quite pathetic. He moans about his diesel and how in two years he "could've sold it for more than he paid for it!"
When one of the group replies "We can pull it out", Jack shrieks "What the #$%&* am I going to do with a rusty Mercedes!!"

How bout the movie "Downtown" with Forest Whitaker? A load of W126's all throughout especially the ending where a poor seat gets cut up! 1990 movie...sucked!

anybody else pissed that movie producers consider our pride and joy expendable in their blockbuster hits.

i just hate knowing that the cars i love are killed for peoples viewing pleasure.

petition anybody.

lets also include classic cars in general. i remember when the latest dukes of hazard movie came out. it was said something like 30+ cars were used in filming. most of them end up wrecked.

Well, at least they didn't wreck it, but yesterday afternoon's local Fox-5 news did a bit on diesels becoming more popular, so they opened with some shots of a W123 300D as an example of why "people still think of diesels as noisy, smelly and dirty", while reving the engine so they could film a close-up of a tiny bit of smoke coming from the tailpipe!

Happy Motoring, Mark

I recently had a discussion with my gf's mother (bad news already) about how diesels have come a long way. I told her they are clean, quiet and powerful now...and then I started up my MB and realized that it had a rough idle, injector nailing, and unburnt fuel poofing out the exhaust! I should have driven the Jetta....

There's a movie called "Once" (not the Spielberg movie, it's by some irish) where a red 300D (or maybe TD) wagon that gets a little bit longer than brief screen time.
Unfortunately, it sounds like a gasser when it starts and runs but it's a pretty little wagon.

I have the same copy of that.

A 240D Turbo? I didn't think it existed!

It could've been a gasser wagon. The 230TE and 280TE were sold in UK/Europe.

They had the diesel badging on it.

I watched it again and confirmed it is supposed to be a turbodiesel.

I'm watching Fringe tonight on Fox. One of the characters is driving a black on black 300SD. I think it's a 300SD as I thought I quickly caught a glimpse of a turbodiesel badge. I'll be able to see for sure when it's on hulu.com. No Tivo for me.

I heard it too. It sounded like a 617, but I saw a 3rd brake light so it could've been a 603 with a problem. Did you also find it funny that the assassin would drive a particularly loud car? He's got a silencer on his gun, too bad his getaway will be heard by all.
