Nope, at least not automatically. Remember there is no O2 sensor on the diesels, they can't run in closed-loop mode, and adjust the mixture on the fly like gas cars. You have to manually adjust the pump to deliver more fuel. Same with intercoolers... some folks install intercoolers and think there will magically be more power produced. The reality is, the intercooler will allow more power to be produced safely, but you still have to increase the fuel delivered! The year/engine you are working on also makes a difference, the 96-up OM606 are all electronic...

I advance the timing on the pump by 3 degres ish... I had the tool but couldn't really work it out then did it visually. The advance worked a treat. But there is still a wee lag... Ok, I am on 100% veg at the moment too, but still would like the car to kick in earlier

O,

On this car, the computer waits for a certain amount of boost to be present before allowing full fueling - like the function of the ALDA on non-electronically controlled engines. Without a re-flash, you probably can't get rid of all of the lag.

OK, another update:

I got the supercharger mounting plate back from the fabricator. Here's the shots of it mounted for the first time.

Looking real smooth Evan!

Anyone have an idea if the full load can be adjusted manually on the 606 pump, like the 603 if the electronic rack solenoid is removed?

Has anyone removed the back of a 606 pump?

I've been too chicken to remove the back of the pump though, I hear it's pretty simple inside.

As far as the full load is concerned, I'm pretty sure it's all electronic. When I had the side cover off once, I was able to slide the rack fore and aft with my finger and it moved freely all the way foreward until it butted up against the pump housing.

This would indicate to me that there's nothing mechanical holding it back.

The speed tuning chip must have gotten the solenoid to move the rack farther because I definately noticed a difference at full throttle from the aggressive chip I had prior.

The 603 has a screw to turn counter clockwise to increase the amount of fuel at full rack travel. That is what I am curious about.

I am just worried about removing the back and something dropping or shifting that I am not able to get back in place.

I just want to see if I can get more fuel and max the elements that are in the pump to see the full power before I go into more in depth modification of changing elements.

I am really looking forward to seeing the results of your project. It should be quite impressive!!

Well, nothing significant. I have nearly completed the SC mount. The only thing left to do there is to get it mounted, then measure for a belt and check for clearances.

I hope to get a video posted in the next month of it's first start and run with the SC connected. (Not plumbed though... )

Evan, will you be running it with the original or 7mm elements at first?

I'm not sure what will come first: the chicken or the egg so to say... I have 7.5mm elements on the way, so I will never actually install the 7's.

I'm a little leery of putting 7.5mm elements in the car with the stock induction so I'll probably just wait until all the plumbing is done before messing with the pump.
