The turbo on my truck sneezes bad enough when I lift to shift at 25 PSI. Can't imagine how it would be at 50! When complete, my E300 will have a similar contraption to save the HX40 but it'll be a simple mechanical bypass.

I had the bd turbo guard bov (its looks like a tial valve) on my '92 dodge with compounds (67psi boost). the turbos wouldnt surge, or bark, when lifting at full boost without it. with the bov it didn't change anything at all. boost fell back to zero slightly quicker, but thats really it. it was easy to get the attention of ricers! a blow off valve isn't designed to control maximum rotor speed, but to eliminate surge when lifting, usually caused by the throttle plate on a gas motor, as earlier stated.

Off topic: Compound turbos on a Cummins and you only made 67psi? Must have been a mild setup. The VE rotary pumps have been fueling a few ~600hp trucks, though.

Cheers,

Matt
