You'll have to start a new thread in order to make a poll.

It would be nice if we could do it like this. One Saturday (I've been toying with this GTG idea in particular for a while, and July 29th has been floating around as a good date), the DFW crew gets together somewhere in the area, a departure point I guess you'll call it, and the Houston crew will do the same thing. We leave our departure points and do a caravan to Centerville. You don't have to be in the caravan to go to the meet, but it would be fun. Imagine a line of MBs heading up and down I-45.

Texas is so big, we may need several meets! Any you South Texas boys up for a meet?

San Marcos would be great they have Sewell Park right on the river. Check out the cars, get hot, float the river to cool off (short float 45 minutes), get out and walk over to Herbert's and chow down on Mexican food, ride the float shuttle back to the park. Repeat as required!!

Bandera up in the Hills is a cool little town and has a riverside park too.

Austin

Austin has a lot more hotels, and good BBq then Centerville. Not much further then Centerville from Houston or DFW. Bit more traffic. Lots more interesting things to do in Austin then Centerville. Course I am biased. Austin Biofuels might help out (http://www.austinbiofuels.com)? Good publicity for them. Get Kinky (Friedman) to show up.

Austin is 160+ miles from Houston whereas Centerville is only 118. That saves some fuel there. We don't need to worry about the hotel issue, because this is intended to be a small day trip, get there in the afternoon, stay a few hours, leave that evening. This meet should include all MBs, not just diesels, so I don't think we need to include anything biodiesel related.

Willies place is kind of a rathole, however I think they have some indoor tables. Not sure if it is an actual operating restaurant or not.

B20 and dino diesel available.

Well i intended it as a diesel MB meet. after all it is in the diesel discussion board! now if Kinky (and maybe even Willie comes), Austin would hands down be the destination.
but lets come back to reality, particularly if no meeting has ever been organized in the lone star state (BTW OK, LA people are also welcome, Shreveport is also 120 miles from Certerville) we are maybe thinking too extravagant. Centerville sounds indeed very attractive, and i like the caravan idea. At least five cars from each Metropolis, would definitely look cool.

Centerville sounds good to me as long as it is a Saturday. And I agree with Jimmy, as long as there is shade! June will be a hot one!

I buy biodiesel nearly every fill-up. However, I'm really not interested in supporting or even meeting Willie. And if I recall, there is not much more than a truck stop parking lot at Carl's Corner.

Check out the events forum, I made a post about it. I can also show you some pics from past get togethers where I've invited more than just diesels, we've had 20+ cars show up, and last time we had a member come from Louisiana. Maybe we can get even more cars this time, DFW seems to have a big Benz base up there.

I'm in Longview (near Tyler). I may come if there's one late in fall. My 300D needs work and isn't tagged/insured.
