I'll be looking for the "old, slow" crowd!

Houston Roll Call

Ive put together a meeting point and time for early departure of Houston on the day of event ,please respond with any suggestions.290 TO US 36 looks to be the best direct drive to the event .The mapquest.com site will bring up a map to print with this address, 4696 FM 3242 CAMERON TEXAS 76520. The map for our rallying point on the morning of,IHOP -IHOP.COM will give you directions to their hwy 290 location ,heres the address and phone #,
13335 FM 1960 RD. WEST. HOUSTON TX 77065. 281-469-0430
I would put this drive at about 2 hrs to the meet so to leave the Houston IHOP AT 10am would be right for a 12pm arrival.Meet and greet at IHOP before 10am on March 3 and have a safe drive to the event .Should we give out cell #s?

Only via PM I would think.
OK, we need a DFW person with good organizational skills to arrange our caravan.
I do not fit the requirements.....
Err on the side of being too early. Randy will be ready.....

I'd be glad to run reconnaissance this weekend to see if there would be a good meeting spot around I-20 & I-35E for the Dallas folks, then if some Fort Worth folks say they're going we can do an additional meetup down in Hillsboro?

Looking forward to this.

We'd catch up to you when you stopped half-way there to pull the drain plug and change your oil

Just another option to consider: There is another IHOP on 290 at Highway 6/FM1960, 8 miles up the road (in the direction we will be heading).

Any guys coming from Katy will likely come up Barker Cypress or Highway 6 to 290. If we meet at the IHOP further west, they will not have to drive in towards town just to come back out. Not a big deal on an all day trip, but I thought I'd mention it.

BTW, I have the official go-ahead from the CEO, so barring flood or other natural disaster, I am in.

Tim

http://ihop.know-where.com/ihop/cgi/site?site=01449&address=

It is south of 290 on the east side of Hwy 6 - immediately west of Gander Mountain.

They call it FM1960 in the link...I always considered it Hwy 6 south of 290 and 1960 north of 290.

Now we need a rally point for DFW.
Somebody suggested the Tcheck bakery in Hillsboro or the Starbucks @ junction 368 on I-35.
Take your pick!

Well I made a quick jaunt down I-35E on Sunday to scope out some spots.
Map
  • Waffle House at the NWC of 35 and Wintergreen. There is a 7-Eleven that shares a parking lot, but no diesel.
  • Exxon/Subway at the NWC of 35 and Parkerville with diesel available
  • Shell/Whataburger at the SWC of 35 & Bear Creek with diesel available
Mostly depends on whether you want to fuel up at the meeting spot or not. Any of these sound good? Or if you guys just want to meet down in Hillsboro, that would be fine as well.

We are trying to figure out a rally point for the entire DFW not only for Dallas.

The ones you suggested are 40 miles north of what we are considering and totally out of the way for 3/4 of the people in DFW.
The starbucks has a diesel pump close.
