Chad, can you list me as potential, unconfirmed? If we can make it, we'll bring our own vegan hot dogs...in case anybody else is interested.
Cool ... I hope you can make it.

Here's the list so far:

Hatterasguy
Johnhef
Swampyankee - need confirmation
Dee8go
Mistress
Powerpig and Wife
Dynalow - need confirmation
Iwrock
Pwogaman
Riethoven - need confirmation
BodhiBenz1987 - need confirmation
Pizzachef and Wife(?) - need confirmation

Powerpig,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. That's a fantastic idea about the Portabellas. We got into making them frequently for a while. I'll make sure there are some at the GTG.

I'll also be grilling onions, peppers and green & yellow squash.

Are vegans OK with stuff cooked on a grill with meat at the same time? There will be enough food that I'm sure there will be separate grillings for veggies and meat anyway, but I'd like to know.

I'll have to ask her, my feeling is it should be fine, but separate grillings might be preferred. She doesn't like being a pain, but knows it inevitable, so she tries to embrace it Thanks for being so accommodating, Chad.

No kidding. Those ARE great. I had a grilled Portabello mushroom sandwich at a restaurant a couple of years ago and thought I was eating meat. They are dee-licious.

Is your garage attached to the house? Just have a cleaning fire!

That fire would burn for weeks, Hattie. There would be a massive inferno for a month or two and it would leave behind a giant slag pile of melted Mercedes engines and whatnot.

The Vanilla Irish Stout is now bottled. I ended up with 27 - half liter blue bottles and 21 - 16 oz. Grolsch bottles. It will now age until the GTG.

Sanitized bottles waiting to be filled:

Racking the brew (it's 5.5% alcohol):

Bottling after priming sugar is added ... now it gets carbonated:

It ends up costing about $45 for about 3 cases worth of beer. It's definitely cheaper than buying it at the distributor, but the effort it requires makes it more a labor of love. It's cool experimenting with flavors and different steepings. I hope this batch turns out like I'm expecting.

Are you sure you're not making some sort of bio-diesel brew?
