I updated Java and got error. If disable java, can get to manual, but when click on title to open, nothing happens. If re-enable java, can get "inside" manual, but requesting specific pdf's, comes back with "document not found...

I get the exact same thing: "document not found".

Wow they have some problems! PROBLEM #1

OK

This isn't working out as well as I had hoped for everyone.

The first problem:-

When you click on the link I posted in the first post you do indeed get a java error as everyone has reported. I know this now as I have re-booted to check and I've been running XP in Virtual box to check to see what most people will be seeing...

To get to the page that is at the same stage as the screen shot I posted in post #8

You need to go to http://www.startekinfo.com

Then on the left hand menu click on "MB Workshop Resources"

Then click on the expanding menu underneath

"Service manual library CD/DVD"

You then get to the place where the link should have taken you...

I'll add this information to the first post.

EDIT:- Wayne (from Peilcan parts the new owner) was experiencing problems like this when I was logging on - it has to do with voo doo server black magic communications <= technical term blah blah blah waffle waffle...

Second problem on non W201 manuals

When you do get through to the place where you can then choose which PDF to access it does indeed give a document error not found as reported by dcotejr

Bugger!

However it does say to report it...

I've checked CD 1 and CD 2 on the W123 manual and they don't work.

I'll check through on the other types available and see if any of them are working...

EDIT:-

Only the 107 and 201 manuals are accessible at present.

I tried contact us...

I tried to report these errors via "contact us" (first page - left hand side of the screen) and it asks for a US postal address etc etc etc

Unfortunately I'm not in a position to successfully fill out this form - can one of you guys report the errors and see if they get fixed?

Surely it is worth a try?

Hi
I use the European EPC, and that is not compatible with the latest Java, have to use a previous release, there's a note about it on the portal page -

++ Notice: The applications EPC and WIS/ASRA require the Java Runtime version 6 (1.6.0). Please do not install Java Runtime 7 (currently Beta; 1.7.0-ea), because EPC and WIS/ASRA cannot be started with this version. +++

Had to un-install Java and load SE6 -

Oracle Java Archive

Hey thanks for persevering through to a fix. It works for me now, anyway.

Here's the 201 link: Untitled Document (it takes a while to load)

Here is the 124 link: Untitled Document

Hell, I bought the 124 CD set off of ebay last week for 33 dollars delivered - from MB Classic (official MB reseller). It is good to have a disk since the greasy old Dell laptop I have in the garage is hit or miss when getting online, and when it does, slow as molasses.

Thanks for sending the email - on Benz World they seem to think the PDFs can be downloaded with internet explorer 6 - I'm going to see if I can test that with a new XP VM.

I hate XP!

I also hate Explorer 6 but it does work on this site...

I have suffered one of the biggest insults to computing to get these URLs

W126

Mercedes-Benz 126 Service Manual Library
Mercedes-Benz Model 126 Service Manual Library
Mercedes-Benz 126 Service Manual Library
http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/outside/12253/program/Chassis/32-010.pdf

W123

Mercedes-Benz Service Manual Library
Mercedes-Benz Model 123 - Disc 2
http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/outside/12265/disc_2/program/Chassis/00-010.pdf
http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/outside/12265/disc_2/program/Chassis/40-102.pdf

W124

Mercedes-Benz Model 124 Service Manual Library
http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/outside/12264/disc_2/Program/Chassis/wheels/mod_notes.pdf
http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/outside/12264/disc_2/Program/Chassis/40-1040A.pdf

If you are clever and you happen to know the PDF file names you can work out the URL for yourself.

(DON'T WORRY! I'll try and find a list of the file names for you too)

I hope this helps until star tek get their website fixed!

Got on, but can't find info for my '85 200T.
Is there a Euro version in English.

This is where I think it will never be that good - this part of Star Tek is an American site - they cater only for vehicles officially sold in the US... much like the EPC side of the web site - only free if you look up information for models officially sold in the US - otherwise you have to pay.

Star tek

WOW!

I got a response already from startek!
The response was short and sweet. But nevertheless, "they are working with IT to correct the links!"
Promising at least!
I asked about the 85 300D.
So Looks like they are aware of the problem

Great stuff!

Now they just need to load up the W114, W116, Ponton and Pagoda FSMs - and I'll be set for my future requirements! May be some trainee and a scanner can help? In fact if they send me paper copies I'll scan 'em in for them...

I wouldn't mind a few paper copies either!
Maybe once they get the links corrected, I'll make my own book
