FS: 1983 300D Turbo Diesel
1983 Mercedes-Benz 300D Diesel, 144K original miles.
Meticulously cared for throughout its life. Super cold A/C (brand new converted system), power sunroof, automatic,
upgraded stereo with CD player!
All vacuum system locks work. Tach, clock and cruise control work intermittently (European Auto-Werks feels the problem is the pick up sensor at the flywheel). All other gauges work perfect. Extremely dependable and very fuel-efficient. Runs fantastic on biodiesel. I’ve been running B100 for several months with fantastic results. No leaks. Never run on straight vegetable oil.
Here’s something that’s quite rare: I have the ENTIRE service history for this car. I’m the third owner and am in possession of all service and repair receipts since the day this car was purchased, including the window sticker. The dash has NO cracks! This car has spent its entire life in the south. There is a small amount or rust the size of a quarter under the right rear quarter panel, just behind the tire. It’s barley visible unless you lie under the car and look up. The paint is in the last stages of life and while it still shines nicely, there is oxidation. The window seals are aging and cracked but there are absolutely no water leaks. I’ve listed all these items because I wish a perspective owner a very thorough understanding of the cars condition. The AC blows super cold, even in the South Texas heat and humidity. All vents function as they should as does the climate control system. The transmission shifts firm, as it should with no knocks or slipping. This vehicle is extremely solid and will make a very nice long-term daily driver. The only reason I’m selling after putting so much time and money into this car is I have too many vehicles and it’s either the Mercedes or my gas sucking SUV that I need unfortunately to pull my trailer. The Mercedes will not pull a 3500-pound trailer. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate the exterior a 7 and the interior an 8. This is a very nice 25-year-old car that runs and handles better than my wife’s 2002 Honda Accord. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere in the U.S.A. There are no warranties expressed or implied with the sale of this vehicle. I encourage and will assist a perspective buyer to have a pre purchase inspection performed at the shop of their choice (at buyers expense of course). Please, no low ball offers. I appreciate your interest and sense of capitalism but if I can’t get close to what I’m asking, I’ll keep it and sell my wife’s Honda. There are very few 300D’s out there with a complete service history in this kind of condition. Additional photos and video can be seen at: http://picasaweb.google.com/Naquins/1983Mercedes# Second owner and my ownership repairs and service below: Tachometer Amplifier (new digital version) Power steering return hose Right rear passenger door vacuum element Fuel door vacuum element Complete AC system with conversion to R-134A Expansion valve Valve housing Receiver drier High pressure switch Low pressure switch R-134 fittings A/C Delco R4 Compressor All O –rings All three air cleaner mounts Fuel cap seal Primary fuel filter Secondary fuel filter Air filter Power steering filter All engine compartment vacuum lines Turbo drain back seals and metal drain pipe Air cleaner rubber hoses One three way vacuum fitting One four way vacuum fitting Vacuum check valve Hand primer pump on injection pump Drag link Steering Stabilizer (Bilstein) All four shock absorbers (Bilstein comfort) Hood pad with heat reflector Antenna mast Front brake pads (Mercedes) Rubber all-weather floor mats Prior Owner items replaced at 135K miles: New Michelin Tires Valves adjusted with new valve cover gasket Hood release cable Defroster vacuum element Alternator Lower heater vacuum element Complete exhaust system from engine to muffler Shifter bushing A/C fan relay Considerably more component replacement and maintenance from the first owner available upon request. My reply to a question about using B100 and leaks.
Using B100 can cause leaks on the older fuel hoses, especially the bypass hoses at each injector. However, this is easily remedied by replacing the hose with the newer vitron fuel hoses. I believe all fuel hoses made over the past several years are vitron based as opposed to rubber based. There is a vast level of knowledge on this subject by people in the Diesel forum. They could explain it better than i but I believe the answer will be the same. When you first begin using B100, it's important to carry a few extra fuel filters due to the cleaning properties of Biodiesel. I ran two full tanks of B100 through the car and changed the fuel filters. I was amazed at how much gunk was caught in the filters. Lots o black, alga looking garbage. It was explained to me by the folks at European Auto Werks (my local repair shop) that it was years of gunk in the fuel system being stripped out by the biodiesel. I ran another three tanks through and changed the filters again. This time there was very little gunk so I'm on a regular cycle now of replacing the filters (at oil changes every 3K). If you would like more information or photos please let me know and I'll be happy to provide them. On a side note: I run B100 over petrol diesel due to our local retailer in the San Antonio area pricing it $.50 cents below the lowest price petrol diesel in the area.

Wow ... that's a beautiful sedan. I wish I could pick it up and add it to my collection. I need to wait for a while before bringing up another car purchase to my wife.
Good luck with the sale. I'd hold out for your sale price too if I were you. It's worth it.

It's funny but the more people that compliment this car, the more I want to keep it. I'll keep the car out there for another week and if nothing happens, I'll assume it's divine intervention to keep driving it. Maybe I'll list the wife's Honda instead. Thanks for all the praise.

The car is back on the market since the buyer couldn't get a loan. He informed me an hour before we were supposed to meet. Classy.
$4700. Info and pics available if interested.
