Does it have a trunk triangle? If not, you'll need this:

When all the docs get here more info will be available

W126 5 Speed & W140 5 Speed

Rare and desirable car. Nice purchase!

I have seen W140 260SE and 280SE 5 speed stick shift cars for sale on Ebay Germany.

In some weird way I would love to have one of those cars.

geez what's the fuss about? I have a 280 se with a five speed... Good power curve I have to say. Is that long body that desirable then? I thought they just eat tires faster and are a ***** to park? Who ever takes their grandparents out for a ride nowadays anyway?

My 280 is for sale by the way. Runs good, needs front seal and some tightening up here and there

Congrats to the new owner of course, having a five speed is like not having to search anymore...

A grey-market '83 280SE, with a 5-speed, turned up on eBay several years ago. The car was in upstate New York, but I wasn't able to go check it out, and there was a question of whether it would be able to make it through emissions inspection here in Northern Virginia, so I passed.

Happy Motoring, Mark

I'm soooo jealous, Merc Master. Have fun with it, I'd LOVE it if my 126 was a manual.

Well, its not the ONLY one in the USA. I know a older lady (that I have not seen in about 2 years) that had a MB like that, but hers was gray in color. I was a 280SEL and had the 5-speed manual shift. I did not know alot about MBs the first time I saw it, but thought it was strange a W126 was a 5-speed. I did not know about "gray market" cars then. Last time I saw her, she was driving a 2007 Mercedes E-Class. Not sure if she still had the W126 280SEL or not. It was setting in her driveway for awhile when I last drove by there two years ago when I had a friend that lived in the neighborhood.

1984 280SEL

The 280SEL has finally/safely arrived and its not a repaint at all. The pics the seller had posted do it no justice The car is in incredible shape considering where it lived most of its life. The interior is stunning no wear anywhere at all to be seen! The engine starts flawlessly no valve tap cold or fully warmed up which takes less than 2 min. No smoke from the tail pipe when cold or hot. The trans shifts smoothly OMG i love that GETRAG!!!! the M110 has plenty of power and pulls very strongly to the RED LINE . When driving it under full accelleration i cant hear a noise inside the car almost silent! the quality of ride is extremely good i can hardly feel a bump in the road and its very firm in hard conering no roll that can be noticed GO EURO or dont go at all I still have not been able to locate even one single car like this anywhere searching and searching nothing yet except a report of a Little Old Lady who who owned one hmmmmmmmmmm and she drives a stick shift Id like to see that one,LOL I would like to personally thank Grapir for posting this car. As soon as i saw it i was on the phone 20 min later i had placed a deposit through paypal thankyou sooooo much.

Dang, that sounds like a great car. It's too bad they didn't make the 560SEC with a manual. I'm looking for one right now, and the one thing I don't like is having to go to a slushbox. I just love a good manual transmission; even with the new dual-clutch transmissions and such that can match the equivalent manual-trans car with the best of drivers, there's just something right about fully controlling your own gearbox. Anyway, have fun with your truly unique (over here at least) ride. Hard to argue against a W126 with three pedals.
