Tom, car looks very nice. I know you said that's all for now, so I'll wait anxiously for the engine pics. My biggest concern would be the rust on the hatch, can't tell if it goes under the rubber.
I'd be willing to bet that the rust goes under the rubber. That is where it starts in the seams between the steel. There is a good write up on the repair of said rust in that exact location. My 124 had the same bubble and when I pulled the window out I found more on the seam. I would fix it sooner rather than latter. AFAIK rust doesn't sleep.

The rest of the car looks to be in fantastic shape.

That is the cleanest engine bay I've ever seen. WELL maybe Dave's is cleaner, but he spent days scrubbing his.

I think that is a $12,000 car on EBay, but it may take a few auctions.

Just MHO, for top dollar I would do three things under the hood. New overflow bottle, ditch the K&N sticker, and get a new Mercedes battery. Very nice indeed..

I would say that $12,000 is feasible although probably not worth the work(or time) it might take to get such a price. The car is worth what someone will pay for it. It's a beautiful car for sure. I could afford to buy it and my wife would be absolutely ecstatic if she came home and found it in our driveway...until she entered the house and found all of the furniture missing.

Thanks for the pictures of the car's rubber seals, from what I can tell it appears that only the windscreen rubber is cracking on the passenger side. Are the other rubber seals fairly pliable? Best.

Actually it is not cracked at all. I think it is how the picture took. See the pic below. None of the rubber is cracked and it is all pliable.

Working AC is a must if you are gonna go above 10K. If the Ac system needs some expensive AC parts then someone is gonna overpay for it.
Word.

Nice car but needs a/c work.

I don't know what his forum handle is and don't think he even posted on the thread, I never asked. All of our contact was by email and phone. Maybe Ralf will post up and introduce himself as the new owner. He is actually German and remembers his Grandpa having a 123 when he was a kid. This is his first MB, he was all grins and I am convinced he realizes what a great car he bought. Not just because of the condition but because of being a 123. He was on a plane with a one way ticket at 6:00 am the next morning after we agreed and going to drive it back to Colordo as his DD. Sure appears to be a great guy!! (But of course, right?!!)
I hope to have another 123 some day and this may sound odd but it would be a 123 that is not as nice as this one that way I will drive it and fully enjoy it!! I had temptations of turning this into my DD but couldn't even come close to pulling the trigger on that thought. I know, not uber collectible but damn sure uber nice!!
