The current market is no more than $2500.00 to $3000.00 for an excellent Diesel W124. You could give eBay a go at what you paid for it and have good luck I am sure. $6.5K is what I'd pay for a 40K mile 300D with no rust to be found.

Good luck with your sale.

As a reality check, I bought a 1987 300TD in the last couple of years which is white/blue with less rust than this car and with less miles than this car. I was out of town when the CL ad for my car got listed, and it was 2 weeks before I was able to buy the car. I was the only person that had expressed interest. The asking price in the CL ad was (drum roll, please).... $2500.

GLWS.
Did you have to TOW it home ?

Its good like he likes the car so much, because it sounds like he's going to own it for a while.

This is exactly why everyone who tries to sell a car here needs to be a member for six months and have at least 100 posts.

I joined this forum for the sole reason of selling some cars that I happened upon. I thought their value was higher than what I came to find out to be reality. That 's fine. In the process of selling said vehicles I have met some very nice folks from this site (and a few other Benz sites)and have learned a great deal about these cars that I never really intended to learn.

You have no idea as to how much money these people have. I would venture to guess there are more that 2 that could buy and sell you many times over. But then again, I have no idea of your worth either. That's my point.
You came in to these folks playground and wanted to make the rules..........Not happening. Take the car and list it on CL or Ebay and sell it to some unsuspecting, unknowing sap that you don't care that they get taken for a ride.
I'm a VW guy. We have a like minded community of people that seems to be present here. We try to help folks and we look out for each other.
Best of luck with selling your car.

Threats will NOT be tolerated on any of our forums.

It's nice you have a high opinion of your car. I agree with you on the model car being rare and valuable, but yours needs a lot of expensive service and maintenance to reach high value.

If you TRULY want maximum price for your car, I can help you make it worth $10-12K, bbut you will be WORKING on the car for 6months, and spending around $5K in parts alone...
I have two of these wagons, and I also have one for parts that is in good shape. I paid less than $3K combined for all three...

Can a moderator please remove the flickr link in the original post as those are MY pictures that were used for when I was selling the car. I'd prefer something linked to me not be stickied.

Is there not someone here that is long on money, and short on brains to buy this vehicle for asking price so it can go away.
