Looking to sell my 1993 190d 2.2 diesel frankencar - $900 or best offer

So after 5.5+ years of trusty driving (has never broken down) I've decided to sell my 1993 190d diesel conversion car if anyone wants it.

It runs and drives fine, its super slow. (0-60 around 20-22 seconds flat out) Has the original gas engine auto trans and drive-line mated to a 1984 OM601 diesel.

When I put the car together 5 years ago I replaced flex discs, trans mount, struts, shocks, ball joints, radiator, hoses, you name it. three windows of the 4 work (left rear does not), has a nice newer radio and speakers, works with original power antenna

To prepare the engine I replaced the flex plate, vacuum pump (brand new pierburg), glow plugs, injector nozzles and Injection pump crush washers/seals/return lines, timing chain, and hydraulic lifters. Engine has about 320k on it but runs great, could be pulled and used for some other project if you wish. Transmission had low miles as it was rebuilt when the car had about 190k on it, currently at 227k.

I put all new brakes and rear calipers on it last year, it can stop like nothing, has decent tires on original wheels. Monowiper works perfect/was replaced about 5 years ago. Has aftermarket glass euro headlights, heat works great, no A/C.

Has some oil leaks from the engine, trans is dry.

Plenty of rust.

No water leaks.

I'll throw a few pics up shortly.

Lots of excellent parts on this car, or drive it as is. I have a space ship Bluetec now so I've just lost interest in driving this one much.

Asking $900 OBO - PM if interested!

Crickets. Crickets.

If no one wants it it will eventually be sent to the local scrap yard.

well, jeez. don't be so hasty

put up some pics, good ones if you can

an admittedly slow car with rust is a tough sell, but you are close to the price-point where otherwise sensible folks would think 'why not'? ask me how i know

I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow....

I'd call it a "reliable driving parts car" I suppose. The engine is in great shape and good OM601's are not common at all.....

Engine burns no oil between 5k changes on LiquiMoly Synthetic 5w40

When I put the car together that is about what the engine cost me once I did improvements to it, so its not a bad deal at all! I've put about 26,000 trusty miles on it....it has never let me down in over 5.5 years!

I will say I've driven a couple 240d's....and it IS faster than those. Flat out in the right conditions its made it over 100mph before, just have to be patient.

$700 or best offer! Just want it to go somewhere where the parts can be put to good use rather than wasted. Not everyday you can find a good running OM601 with replaced hydraulic lifters, timing chain, delivery valve seals, injector nozzles, glow plugs, vacuum pump, and belt pulley/tensioner!

I would buy your 190D with cash today if you were closer. Hey, I know - meet me halfway - I'm in California! My daily driver is a 1984 190D 2.2, and I love her so much - but the injection pump started leaking, and now the fuel leaking on the rubber bushings in what I think is the control arm down below underneath the pump, are degrading. She's gone from "never broken down and reliable" to not drive-able in one month. I just am not confident I can repair the injection pump myself even though I've studied the procedure. The bushings I'd have to have a shop do. The car still runs great, but driving a car that leaks fuel? Not too wise so I must figure out what to do. Out here in California, the DMV offers $1000-$1500 to 'retire' a car if it's been registered in your name for the last two years running, and if you can drive it there - my Baby Benz meets the requirements, but I promised her I would never let that giant claw at the auto junkyard smash her to smithereens - do you think she knows? Anyway, your Baby Benz is exactly what I'm looking for - wish you were here (ahh, Pink Floyd). Good luck with your sale, I sure love your 190.
