Here are my top 5 in order:
1. 1955 300SL "Gullwing" (silver w/red interior) This car is absolutely amazing. Beides being extremely beautiful it was one of the fastest cars of its time.
2. 1985 AMG HAMMER. (or the 1992 RENNTech 600E which was very similar but with a modified 500E engine)
3. 1994 E500. The best looking (and fastest)factory W124 ever built.
4. RENNTech CLK GTX. 7.4 liter V12. Capable of speeds over 200 MPH.
5. 2001 CL600. Also extremely beautiful.
I'd love to hear what other Mercedes owners' favorites are.

Jesse
98 C43 AMG
94 Range Rover

Heres my little list, mostly the newer models. Not in any sort of particular order.

1. 99 S600 Best and the last of real MB coach building.
2. 94 E500 The best and rarest of the W124 body style.
3. 96 E320 Final Edition (cabriolet) Nicest 4 seat droptop.
4. 01 CL55 AMG Showcase of new MB technology and design.
5. 01 SL600 A timeless shape and all time MB trademark.
6. 97 C36 AMG Reminds me most of a MB DTM racer.

Definitely the '01 CL55 AMG. How often does a manufacturer offer a model that looks better, performs better, and costs less than the top-of-the-range model in the line (CL600)?

Best looking coupe: 1953 300S Coupe - elegant and sporty!

Best looking roadsters: 1964+ 230/250/280SL - classic!

Favorite race car: 1937 W125 - 592 HP from 5.6 liters in a 1650 lb car with drum brakes and skinny tires!!!! Imagine driving this beast at it's rated 200mph in the wet! 27 wins in the 1937 season!

If I had to choose just one: 300SL Gullwing, of course!

If I had to be practical: 2001 E320 sedan

If I could compromise between practical and the gullwing: 500E!

I have always love these:

1955 300SL Gullwing
300E AMG Hammer - not sure on the year
300CE any year
560SEC Any year
500E any year

I love many more, but those are my all time favorites. if I could I would own one of each. I have the CE Already. hehehe I'm hoping a 500E will be next. Maybe by the end of this year if business goes well.

Why are the 1992 500E's considered the fastest. I would think that the latter years would be fastest becasue of more R&D.

True, a little more R&D, but also a lot more emission requirements, and maybe crash-worthy bumper issues came out of DC in the early 90's.

I may be mistaken but I believe the earliest 500Es that came to the U.S. didn't have governors at 155 MPH. Also, the later models had "only" 315 HP as oposed to 322 HP in the earlier models. Don't you think the E55 would look better with flared fenders similar to those on the 500E?

Hi guys...

Out of all the cars you guys mentioned, I'd say the car with the most votes are the 300SL Gullwing and the 01' CL55.
The CL55 is my personal favorite. Safe driving in the snow guys...

Chuck

Chuck:

What's snow? It is 78 degrees outside during the day in SoCal! Oh, well, we will get our problems next week when it drops to 58 degrees and the first rain in months turns the freeways into an oil slick battleground!
