1979 300CD - Turbo?

I have a 1979 Mercedes 300CD, ive noticed in the past few years that its started to get less powerful. Any common things I should be checking to see what the power loss is attributed to?

Ive also noticed that there was a 300CD turbo released in later years. Will the turbo from these cars fit mine?
