Do you get a lot of wheel hop when you are spinning your tires? This is normally a good way of breaking things. Put solid engine mounts and differential mounts and subframe mount in and this will greatly reduce wheel hop. The engine mounts make the car pretty rough at idle but you could use torque shocks instead.
Mine is 5 speed manual . Yes, I get wheel hop but only in first gear with a heavy launch. A friend mentioned that some people use solid u joints (aluminum), is this possible ?

P.S. Is it right to assume that the main reason for the u joint to go is the hard launching ?

no, a solid joint would require the driveshaft to be perfectly aligned and nothing to move. If you did this it would tear up immediately. I do not know about the stick shift. There might be a larger diameter flange that you could put on. I swapped frt half shafts with a sl320 on my diesel to get the length I wanted. You could get a driveshaft shortened or lengthened also to fit if the flanges bolt on the transmission.

if your car isnt shiny, you dont know what you are talking about, remember; paint shine = knowledge. In order to be taken seriously, you should spend all your money on paint, (and get a dyno reading).
Dont forget to polish it often

Nick, by fuel cut I assume you mean the "decel fuel amount", no I don't cut that, and under accel I don't go lean at all, there are some spikes (seen in the log) when I shift but I'll iron them out soon. I'm using 6x630cc/min (~60lbs) injectors . At one time I was using mapDot in the 2.5-16v turbo engine and it worked great. With this setup I use tpsdot seens it was easier to setup and it works just fine

Guess I'll have to look into the u joints and first see if there will be a direct sway from some MB (car, truck, suv etc.), if not then I'll get creative :-D

Perhaps this might be the solution to the u joint problem.

It's also probably been eating tires, oil, sanity, gas, small children, and other innocent uncorruptable consumables. It's what they do.

What transmission are you running joreto?

I'm using the stock 5speed manual 16v gearbox.

Saturday I measured the car at the scales and was nicely surprised. It measured at 1300kg (~3019 pounds). I thought it be heavier with the m103 engine.

I forgot to mention that the body where the subframe is bolted begun to crack, guess it's due to the increased torque and partly to the stress from standing 1/4 mile starts . Has anyone had this problem , if so how have you gone about fixing it ? My guess is that the more powerful cars on here have run into this problem . I know that boosted BMWs can get/fit factory reinforcement plates from E36 M3 that solve this problem, my friend with the 328i turbo did just that. Are there such reinforcement plates for our cars, say from and 500 E ?
