went to the drag strip...
i went to the local 8th mile for midnight madness last night and ran a lot. I was suprised how well my car performed. It is a 90 300ce-24...I beat a 2001 Maxima SE, I was 1/2 a car length on a RENNTech C-Coupe, and I was a car length off my buds C36. My first race i raced a 97 Eclipse Turbo and ran close to dead even with it...I was s o surprised. Anyways, i ran a 10.4 at 68.3 mph..

Wait... he said he went to his local 1/8th mile so that means he ran a 10.4 1/8th mile... not 1/4. to run a 10.4 1/4 mile would definetly require something a lot more than a stock 300ce. Such as a CLK55 AMG... with turbo and nitrous.

Shu,
You are correct, the 500e will run, at best about a high 13...like a 13.95 or so at about 100mph.

10.4 1/4 would take some serious 700+ ponies.
This summer we ran our C36 down the 1/4, and got pretty consistent 14.2-14.4's. My wife managed one perfect out-of-the-ASR launch, and ripped off a 14.0, but we were unable to repeat it. I watched an E55 pulling 13.3's, which blew lots of folks away, including me. Until I saw that I thought the E500 and E55 were a fairly even match. Ooops.

Wish I could of seen the E55's running. By all accounts the E55's have lost previous encounters vs the 500E's but perhaps now their cars are finally getting into the "broken in" phase? They certainly have the potential to run in the 13's. As for stock 500E's, I've seen, done, and heard from very reliable sources (aka Curcio) that 500E's can get well into the 13's basically stock. (dragstrip, not G-tech) Low 14's at 100 mph is easily repeatable... As far as C36's go...low to mid 14's is what I"ve seen but I'm always at the track when its 90+ degrees out and near 100% humidity. That said, I've side-by-sided with a stock 500E and there is no comparison....even with a .45 second jump off the line (r/t driver vs driver) the 500E caught the C36 by 60 ft, THEN it got up and ran....
As far as Eclipes and their ilk...they can be anywhere on the map....depends if they are the kind who pays to have obnoxious stickers on their car, or if somebody "real" pays them to have obnoxious stickers on their car.... Hope this helps, Lee |

1/4 mile times
Lee / all-
Do some site surfin' here about my experiences @ New England Dragway this August with Jim's500E, Michael, Dean in his 300CE, and my bro in his '93 300SE (HA!). Jim and Mike were able to run steady 14's, with one or two dabs in the 13.95 range, at about 100-103 I believe. As for my 2.3-16, I was a best 15.7 I think, and it was a HOT 98 degree evening, not good. This was pre-recent tuning, curious to see where I'm at. REGARDLESS hms59, GREAT to see you doing some burnin' in your MB. Keep it up...
