Yahoo!!! My turbo 16V is tamed!!! Thanks to MB Autowerks (More)

Hello everyone, as most of you know, I have a 2.3-16V turbo that I installed awhile ago. Well, for some reason the boost pressure was affecting the car in that the accelerator was holding wide open when I made boost. Well, not anymore. I went to GA to MB Autowerks where Donnie (Benzmac) and Jeff worked on my car. Let me just say, that I am 110% happy with the results. The car is boosting safely at 5-6psi. right now and it is steady. It pulls soooooo nice all the way to the limiter. What they did was used a custom Throttle Body without the rubber connections. I beleive that was the problem. When the turbo was boosting it would jam the TB and hold it open. Also, they hard lined the wastegate connections so it blows off at 5-6 psi. What a rush!!!!! I love driving it now.........it is no longer a pain in the ass driving around town pussy footing the gas pedal hoping not to make boost. The work that they did to it was great and professional. I would highly recommend anyone that wants quality servicing done to their Benz to make the trip. Especially if it is dealing with aftermarket stuff. Plus, Donnie was great with doing a quick job but also careful job at the same time. They were also nice enough to show my girlfriend and I around the facility which by the way is very very clean. I got to ride in his 400HP 190E 16V turbo and Bill's Kleeman supercharged AMG CLK 55 as well............ Anyway, now I'm all set, just need to clean the car out a little bit and work out a few quirks and all will be good.
Sorry for the long post but I'm just very excited right now!!

Killer Clinton. Love your turbo. I'm glad you found billa nd donnie to be great, because they truly are top notch in my book.

Now go do some runs and lets find out how quick that puppy is!!!

Clinton ..... Finally. The 16 valve under boost is a beautiful machine. Mine is back on the road, breaking in the rings and stuff before getting it dyno'ed. Nothing is easy; the starter bendix drive just broke so I will be pulling the starter out today.

Great news on your car.

Hey Jim,

Did you turbocharge your 16V? If so, I'd love to see under the hood, just for kicks you know. Ashman, I'll let everyone know about times and dyno's as soon as I can get some together......well, take care.

Hey Jim,

Did you solve the throttle sticking problem that you had that was similar to mine? Donnie modified a factory 16V Throttle body that wouldn't get stuck open, plus he fabricated a return spring that hooks directly up to the throttle body linkage that is incorporated in with the fuel line linkage. You might try this if you haven't solved your problem yet. Of course, was it you that mentioned that you got a larger TB from Bekkers? Well, good luck....later.

Clinton .... The throttle body problem drove me to use a 1989 5.0 Mustang throttle body and to convert to an electronic injection system and to get away from the Bosch CIS. I was not able to correct the throttle problem with a new throttle body or any other easy modifications. I hope that yours works better than mine.
