Just Curious
Has anyone other than Micheal installed this switch?
I am going to attack it this afternoon if possible. Any suggestions? Comments? I was thinking of making a connection in the CAN for the ASR circuits with a M & F molex connector on the CAN side and a pair of M&F molex connections for the "Curcio Grin Switch". My only concern is that I end up with a solid connection as I don't want the ASR circuit getting flaky due to a lose connector. RennTech has a number of connections in the circuit, so I think I could as well. TIA for any advice.

Yeah, MB illuminated switches work because MB switches the ground lead, instead of the hot/source/supply or whatever you want to call it. Which is fine for most things but my stereo "valet" switch had to trigger the 12V side, not the ground, and therefore couldn't be illuminated. I'm looking into modifying a factory switch (or, I guess I could do a relay with a latch circuit... ugh...) :p

Love the look!
Shanta,
Did you have to cut that opening in your wood console? I have two blanks there and want to use them at some point but I am scared to death to cut into it....There doesn't seem to be a cutout of any kind in my console, but have seen others that did have a spot to "knockout" a new switch hole.

Installation Questions...
Steps Taken so far....
Located a couple mounting points behind Airbag/under dash. Opened CAN Removed all Modules Locate pins 25,35,37 on ASR module. Appears to be plenty of room below the module sockets for wiring. Decided I didn't have a good long T-handle metric allen wrench to get at the other socket head screws on the CAN (at the base). Will post pics as I find time to tear into things a bit more.

I would not attempt to cut holes in the wood trim. You can buy new wood from the dealer with the extra holes - there are 9 maximum above the ACC pushbutton unit, so if there's a blank space, you can buy new wood with the factory cut hole. Or, remove something unused like Shanta did. The other alternate is to yank the fader out of the center console and use that for a switch - I put a remote factory rocker switch for my Valentine-1 in that spot. 94-up 124's don't have this hole, but again, you can buy new wood with the hole. This is an especially attractive option if your existing wood is cracked or faded... cost is in the $175-$250 range each (wholesale).

Thanks GSXR !
I actually plan to put my ASR defeat switch in the fader position. I want to try and find an Ashtry module for the 500E as well. I would like to modify it to hold some other switches, etc. Just don't want to cut up the real thing. The ashtray is $300 from the stealer. I just need to spend some time checking the recyclers.

Finally got the last bits in - sorry for the considerable delay, but I couldn't assemble any more kits until I had the cabling. It finally arrived, so the last 2 kits go out this a.m.
Again, sorry for the delay, but I'm at the mercy of my suppliers (I source stuff from 4 different places for this kit)

I joined this too late, maybe. Are you still distributing these switches? If so, let me know how to send you the $$!

Holy Blue Smoke Batman !
I just took the beast for a ride after a slightly unsuccessful weekend of reassembling the interior.
Got the new headliner in rather quickly but the carpet was a PITA! The carpet piece did not fit well, I fear I will have to get another from the dealer. They are sourcing it for me already, but I just have to wait.... Anyway I tried the ASR Defeat switch and want to report it works well !!! She caught me off guard when I got on it.... ![]() The tail went hard right. I am used to the beast behaving too well. The sound of the Dunlop 9000's melting (265/35-18) was interesting to say the least! It was pretty warm (63F) and the windows were all open, when I stopped I was overcome by the smell of burning rubber!!! Thanks again Michael!!! ![]()

I guess I missed it somewhere in the thread so.... How would the ASR defeat switch work in an S350D. Is it worth it? Will the car move faster from the jump? Who is the contact making the defeat switches and what has been the cost and the benefits. Any S350 owners have the defeat switch installed?
