The mossleman kit is gonna cost you around 4-5k uninstalled. Install won't be easy, but its not an impossible DIY. IMHO, the mossleman kit costs way too much for what you end up getting out of it.

Are you sure the Mosselman Twin Turbo kit for the M103 runs 4-5K? I thought it would be more expensive... Do you know of any US Mosselman distrubutors?

Thanks!

Yea, I had posted some inquiries. That is the price of the kit uninstalled. If you want installation, I think you could easily double the price. The place that I got the quote from was autowerksexpress . Their website is at www.autowerksexpress.com

john if you want more power from a m103 my quick fix recommendation would be to get the twin cam head for your car, if not the whole motor. it drops your 0-60 time by 1.5 secs and gives you another 40bhp approx.

Question...

How do you install a twin cam M104 cylinder head onto a M103 engine? I believe they share the same engine block but what about piston heads, etc, etc?? Interesting though...

Using the early version of the M104 engine from '90-'92 wouldn't be difficult because it uses the same CIS fuel injection system that your car currently uses. It is a 3.0 liter DOHC engine, and it puts out a lot more HP than your current M103.

The '93-'99 3.2 liter M104 engine would be hopelessly expensive because it uses the all-electronic fuel injection / management system.

M104 head retrofitted to M103 block

I reckon i'd have to change the pistons as well?? I know they share the same engine block but not sure about pistons since M103 - 2valves/cyl and M104 - 4 valves/cyl...

But hey, this is interesting for us M103'ers... will see if I can source for a M104 head...

Ashman - did you just get your grille painted black? Cool, mine's in the shop doing the same thing. Will try to post some pics soon.

oh I didn't just get it painted. I shaved the hood star and front laurel badge off of it myself, sanded and primed it and painted it myself.

I enjoyed doing it.

Next time, it'll be fun too. I still have a new chrome frame with insert star and allt o put on for when i do it again.

Looks menacing with the blacke grill frame.

badinfo - i believe your right you may indeed need to get new pistons, whether they are aftermarket flat top pistons or proper benz 4 valve pistons.

Renntech modifications

Renntech makes a 3.6 l conversion for this engine. It will give you 64bhp gain and costs $13,950.00 USD.

Disclaimer: I am an authorized Renntech distributor - DexM, llc. I can make all the arrangements for you to get the work done at Renntech's facility in Florida, USA. Obviously the price does not include shipping or installation.

If this interests you, post to the forum a way you would like me to get in touch with you.

Mike,

Try contacting Sergio (Serge) at:

Merc-Talk
Unit 4/23 Aylesbury Street
Botany NSW 2019

Ph: (02) 9316 7303

It is not specifically a performance shop, but Serge is fairly knowledgeable. (No affiliation, just a satisfied customer).

Personally, I don't think that going naturally aspirated route will yield you much in terms of HP per $. Even when you take account the funds required to rebuild and strengthen the engine in preparation for forced induction, I think you will find that the HP per $ factor is still in favour of forced induction.

Hope this helps.
