Scott,

Have you checked the weight on the 1 wheel you have? Curious to see how heavy it is as discussed here:

AMG SL 2PC vs. EVOII Weight Comparison

Willie

I have not weighed the AMG 2-piece wheel, yet; stay tuned and I will post my findings, ASAP.

part # clarification

Below, please find detailed part # data:

AMG 2-piece wheel (8.5Jx18H2) = AMG part # A-129-400-11-02 / Mercedes-Benz part # 6-6-47-1761

AMG 2-piece wheel (10Jx18H2) = AMG part # A-129-400-??-?? / Mercedes-Benz part # 6-6-47-1762

As of THU 12JUN03, I do not know the AMG part # for the 10" rear wheels; I have e-mailed AMG for clarification.

{Both Mercedes-Benz part #s are 100% correct.}

Hello Mr. Shell,

Unfortunately are the below mentioned wheels are not AMG-wheels but accessory wheels from Mercedes-Benz,
therefore we do not have any information about that.

Regarding the Aero-1 wheels, we regret to inform you that they are no longer deliverable and the biggest dimension was 17 inch.

Kind regards,

Hello, Mr. Riese.

I need to confirm some AMG part #s for the following (discontinued) 2-piece, Mercedes-Benz SL wheels:

AMG (8.5Jx18H2) part # A-129-400-11-02 (Mercedes-Benz part # 6-6-47-1761)
AMG (10Jx18H2) part # A-129-400-??-?? (Mercedes-Benz part # 6-6-47-1762)

Do you have any of the above (2-piece wheels) in your warehouse?
If so, what are your prices, please?

Finally, I am looking for *AMG Aero-1* wheels (as equipped the original AMG Hammer) in the following sizes:

8.5"x18"
9.5"x18"
10"x18"

I have seen AMG Aero-1 wheels in the United States *ONLY* in the 17" diameter.

Although some websites CLAIM to have larger sizes, I require AMG's confirmation
as to whether they EVER were made in any larger diameter(s).

RSVP / Thank you, Sir.

- Scott M. Shell

Those rims weigh in at over 30lbs each, 10" weighs like 34-35 if I remember... you want new or used? They are around East Coast.

Jim

I prefer new ones; however, I will consider zero damage/flawless used ones.

Jim, I seem to recall we exchanged comments on this and you mentioned it was quite heavy and was the reason for my shying away from them even though they look great.

Scott, I didn't think wheel manufacturers actually accepted custom orders with a different design than theirs like Shanta did with iForged. This may be the way to go if they're a) too heavy b) NLA.

clarification request

Sorry to be redundant... but since so much $$$ is at stake...

Please confirm (someone who HAS these wheels on his/her 500E) that the following setup will work on my 1993 500E:

FRONT WHEELS: (AMG 2-piece SL, 8.5Jx18H2 ET25)
REAR WHEEL: (AMG 2-piece SL, 10Jx18H2 ET25)

I have the following concerns/criteria:

1) I do not want to encounter any rubbing of my rear fender-flares and/or suspension components.
2) I want to fill out my front fender-flares a bit more - that is, I want the edges of my front wheels to be pushed out from the center-line of my car.

For item #2, will I need spacers of some kind? If so, what EXACT size will I require (in milimeters), who makes them, and how much will they cost, each?

All specific/exact feedback will be MOST appreciated!

(FYI: this (8.5"x18") wheel weighs 50 lbs (on a consumer/non-calibrated scale) with a Bridgestone S0-3 245/40/R18 tire mounted)

Scott- With an offset of 25, most likely the rear's will rub. You need to do a test fit and a test drive with your tire of preference to make sure.

An offset of 25 could be OK on a 500E, but again, you need to do a test fit or get a letter from the seller and/or AMG guaranteeing your fit.

Best of luck,

:-) neil

Without a doubt...they fit fine...even on a lowered E500...Brian has them on his Limited w/H&Rs...we even put the 10" rear on the front and it didn't rub or hit the suspension components. I think if one did put the 10" on the front...you'd need spring helpers to limit the travel....and ruin the ride comfort at the same time. Looked perfectly dope though.

MAE makes/made rims that are 9 and 9.5" for the front of a 500E too so 8.5s are no problem up there. The offsets on the R129 SL 2-piece is right on for a 500E.

The 18s" ride quite nice even for here in New England...the heavier rim/tire weight makes for a cushy ride. These AMG rims are for style and strength...not for racing or weight reduction....too bad they are so expensive and hard to get...I always loved the look they bring to the car.

Run....

I have 10x17 ET19 rear rims on need2speed and they fit fine, even with lowering springs. However, rear camber has decreased to -2.7 degrees and if I installed a correction kit to bring them to -1 degree, the rear wheels would likely rub.

For comparison, my OZ 3-piece rear rims have 9mm less inside clearance and 41mm more outside extension than the stock 8x16 ET 35 rims.

FWIW, your 10" ET25 rear rims would provide 15mm less inside clearance and extend 35mm more than stock. You can always measure the fit, particularly the inside clearance.

thanks, everyone

I'll proceed as planned. At worst, I may have to roll my rear fender-flares a bit...

1994 E500 and 1989 560SEC with AMG SL-2 piece wheels

For those of you talking of getting these wheels, well, we've done it and yes they fit.

BTW, Khari, your 1994 E500 with those SL 2-piece wheels has to be the nicest E500 around....clean, simple, and tasteful....
