interior lites not working fm drivers door

Feeling cockey after conquering the top removal & central locking problems, thanks to Bob
Terry's guidance. Tried his guidlines (1/15/04 #1348323) re the above and it worked. Had no continuity between pin #5 & #7 of the warning module; opened it up and removed the diode (traced back fm those pins on the circuit board); found a replacement in stock @ radio shack and soldered it in place with a soldering pencil and it works!! Diode is labeled "IN4005" radio shack #276-1104 in the rectifier diode drawer. Two per pack @ $.89. The module would have been $89.00! We're 3 for 3 Bob. Thanks again.

For the record. Could you please post the actual physical location of the warning module and it's correct full name. This "lamp" problem seems to have come up a few times in the past and knowing where to find the module is just as important as knowing how to fix it. Thanks.

Way-to-go Jim...

Tecqboy, the module is located behind the passenger air bag. See photo.

Thanks. I guess that picture helps a little. I have never had to strip my car apart that far. I can't even tell if that's the inside or outside. That thing sure got buried. Nothing is ever easy.

interior lights/driver's door

TECQBOY
Follow Bob Terry's steps to remove the airbag, unplug its two wires and put aside. The module he refers to is a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 3" black plastic box mounted on the right sidewall secured w/ one 10mm flanged nut.
1. Remove the nut & unplug the box.
2. Pry back the cover tabs to remove the pin base & circuit board.
3. Trace the path on the back side of the board from pins #5 & #7 to a tiny black barrel mounted vertically with the markings N1 4005. *Note the white circle on the board and the corresponding one at the base of the diode as diodes are directional and the new one must be installed the same way. Bob's notes re anode/cathode are crucial here. Also, study the back side before unsoldering as one pin is stands alone and the other is bridged to an adjoining point.
Good luck
