There are no numbers on the terminals and sockets. You must know the layout of the connector to figure out which is #1 and then they go in sequence from left to right, naturally. I would love to post a picture here of the layout of the ASR connector, but I can't get one within the 65 KB limit.

Similarly, I'd like to post a picture of the terminal where you disconnect the blue/white wire. Loosening a screw and removing the wire is surely preferable to cutting a wire which you may later regret doing. However, try as I might, the photo I took of the terminal can't get less than 72 KB in size and I am therfore unable to post if here.

Suggestion: email me for pics, or let's take this thread over to Benzworld. They have no limit on the size of an attachment.

By the way, I removed the blue/white wire on my '91 500SL to see if it helped my problem with Limp Mode. As I expected, it did not help. Why? Because my problem is a faulty ETA, and as I posted repeatedly earlier in this thread, if your ETA is bad disabling the ASR is not a cure.

I've a 1991 500SL build in Europe. Could that be the problem ? Is there a workaround ?

I'm pretty sure this is the right computer cos when I remove the connector and start the car it gives me 2 light on the dashboard , abs and asr.

the numbers on the computer are:
007 545 93 32
0265 106 018
944 00 214

Also , the RENNTech kit documentation is talking about pin #numbers. I dont see any numbers on that module.

Many Thanks!

Leo

You have the correct computer and wiring harness. I can't help you with differences in wire colours though. Maybe try cutting these 2 wires first and see what happens. You can always rejoin them.
Let us know how you go.

I don't think there any way to disable ASR - it is so deeply ingrained into so many systems. If you come with it let us know. I believe you could make a fortune with it.

Apologies if this is too basic a question but can anyone suggest which screws are necessary to remove to re and re this unit?
