Hmmm.....Sounds a little suspicious. Check your chassis number. If it is a 107042 XX XXXXXX, then you actually have a 6-cylinder 280SL (2746cc or 167.6 cu in), possibly "badged" as a 450SL. If it is 107044 XX XXXXXX, then it is (or was) a V8 450SL (4520 cc), that someone has swapped a six-cylinder motor into. The genuine 280 SL had a motor serial number beginning with 110. The original 280 and 450 (and 350 V8) are all quite different in suspension, transmission, and other areas. If you post actual numbers, I may be able to help further. Will need engine number to verify what model the engine actually is, before I can advise part number for correct plug wires and best source. Chassis number and 3-digit option codes are on a plate fixed near the centre of the radiator panel. The chassis number will also be stamped into the radiator panel sheetmetal.
