Do you have a 12 or 24 valve engine?
I own a 300CE and 300SL, both with 24 valve engines and am quiet pleased with the power of the engine (I am used to drive a diesel). The 300 is not the fastest car on the road, but has sufficient power for topless cruising. My 300SL-24 reaches 250km/h, which is definitely fast enough...

It's the 12 valve engine. You are right about the power and that the 300 isn't the fastest car. The SL weigh a lot and I was just thinking of if there was an easy way to add a few hp, , Without rebuilding the whole car. I guess some of you have learned a trick or two in this matter. Am I not right??

We (my mother) pre-owned a 1986 300SL, which had the same 12-valve engine as you have. This car wasn't that fast and it's top wasn't as high compared to the 24-valve 300.

If you want to get some suggestions about the power possibilities on a 12-valve 300 engine, you better post a thread in the tech help forum. There is more traffic and more knowledge concerning the power possibilities.

ram-air intake, H&R filters, etc.

Just open two internet pages; one with this thread and one with a new post for the tech help forum.

You can copy/paste whatever you want from one thread to another (or you can use a Word document to do some copy/past activities.
