New 4 Tip Exhaust

Phil Here, Regarding my new 4 Tip Exhaust system: I thought I posted the photo and plans as a new post, I will try and rectify that now.
To answer your question on where to purchase the AMG 4 Tip Oval's, I will tell you that I purchased the on Ebay for a lot cheaper than the ones that they have listed now. [ Ebay Item #Item number: 250274757499] The set that I bought are Stainless Steel and have [AMG] stamped on the tips, though I think they are "knock-offs". Because the came from Hong Kong.
I have looked for the set last night and only came up with the above set for 109.00+shipping. Thanks a lot for the comments on the Set-Up.

4 Tip Exhaust Completed

Phil Here, Well here it is, I just had fabricated and Installed the new 4 Tip Exhaust system for the rear of me 500 SL. I have been working on the Idea for some time now. The system can be put back to stock at any time due to the " Flanged" application of the Pipe set-up. I had a shop bend and weld the split rear section of the exhaust. I used 2.5 and 1.5 Stainless Pipe. The cost was 200.00. The 4 AMG oval tips were purchased on Ebay for 49.00 plus shipping. [What a deal]. The only cutting modification was to remove the rear Tow bar and to cut the rear Valance slightly to except the additional 2 Tips. Heat is not a problem due to wrapping the 1.5 in. pipe with heat proof wrap.

The Exhaust System looks and sounds great, with little modification to the SL. I could have placed the Exhaust Tips higher into the rear bumper but I did not want to cut out to much of the Plastic Valance.

I think it looks hot and it is functional, Also I did not have to spend 6,000 on a complete AMG system. Let me know what you think?

Two photo"s Included.

That looks pretty good.

Sound different? How did you choose where to put the tips?

You'll probably get all sorts of "keep it original" stuff, but I gotta say, I love it!

IWOK, Phil Here. The SL sounds great, A little deeper tone. The placement and spacing of the 4 Tip Exhaust was determined by the existing cut out that my SL. had on the rear left side, I carefully measured and cut the right side Bumper, I than enlarged both cut-outs to be symmetrical for the application of the 2 sets of Tips.

Can you take a more closeup picture of each side?

I want to get a better of what this mod entails.

Looks great, Phil. I'd like to do something like that to my SEC, but haven't figured out how to run dual exhausts out to the rear of the car on either side. The spare tire well appears to be a real obstacle to this plan.
