If it can go wrong...cam oiler issue (what did I screw up..?)
Pulled the cam covers on my '86 560SL as it has needed new valve cover gaskets since we have owned the car. Noticed the plastic oil cam oiler clips were bad on the driver's side, so I went about replacing them. The front one broke off inside the cam tower and I could not get it out.
So... I decided to pull the camshaft sprocket and the front cam tower to try and clean out the plastic that got lodged inside the tower. I finally got it all out and got everything back together - torqued the head bolts to 60 Nm and the cam sprocket bolt to 100 Nm. Do I have anything to worry about? It took a while to get the sprocket back on, but I zip tied the chain to the sprocket just to be sure... ryan

You should be good to go. In an excess of caution, you might want to bring the engine around on the starter or with the crank pulley and make sure the timing marks align. Be sure to use new crush washers on the valve cover screws, and don't overtighten, since the seal with from a slightly compressed gasket/seal.

Very scary stuff. I broke 3 off in the towers. I decided to chance getting the bits out with a combination of magnifying glass, dental picks, thin oil for flushing, and a swaged-down hose on the shop vac (a piece of that Techalon vacuum line works good). The engine ran fine after, as I reasoned any tiny particles smaller than the oiler holes would get washed out in the oil. But, you know, I am still worried a little about the cam bearings....naw, the oil passages are big enough to direct particles into the main flow instead of the bearing surfaces...I hope
