yup and then put 2x the money I'm asking to get it right, but it is all about the journey ( thats what I tell my wife )

Your other point is well taken as well...

Life here in Europe has a feeling of uneasyness in the car market. New cars generally have loads of extras bolted on them or have 0% finance schemes when perhaps only three years ago that sort of thing was pretty rare / only for the really cheap non-cool brands.

Second hand car prices have fallen through the floor. Three to four years ago a diesel W123 parts car would have cost between 1800 and 2200 euros here in Holland (there's a serious premium for road tax free vehicles here). Today I see them advertised for about 700 euros to 1000 euros. They don't seem to be selling.

I've been keeping my eye out for really nice 1950s American tin and there used to be a lot of choice here so long as you were prepared to pay in excess of 11,000 euros. That "garage queen hobby car" market has more or less dried up. There's just nothing available like that at the moment - it is like there's no point in advertising them any more.

"Investment" buyers don't seem to be too confident - and nobody seems flush enough to say what the heck I've always wanted one of these (before I die).

If I were you I'd put the car into storage and keep it until the market gets stronger or you retire.

(I'm still waiting for my lottery win though - so you never know your luck!)
True... but the early 911 SWB market is going thru the roof right now. They are selling as fast as these cars go on the market and they have doubled in the last 2 years...in Europe and the U.S... Vintage F-cars have spiked as well. It just hasn't gone thru the whole gammet of collector cars. Muscle cars are still soft, along with others. Everybody has been predicting a small bumper 107 boom, but it just has not taken off. Predicting the market has never been easy and deep pocket investors are sticking with the blue chip cars as of now.

May be there's hope for us yet then?

Are you a trader? My comments are based on what I see as a private buyer - it would be good to have some input from "the professionals"

yup the Porsche market is strong as is the Jag market ( e type) . I love to look at the auction results , and occasionally get excited when an ol W107 crosses the block with good results
Perhaps we are the next boom... I wont hold my breath

Hi Panda, how you doing

Hard to believe you ain't sold Pearl yet, she's a looker alright. Vintage car markets here in Europe are quite depressed at present and i'd be reluctant to be sending her in this direction.
Having said that, this fella got a good price for his car, not many 107's of that age sell so well here or in the UK.

Good luck

Im good Merc, thanks for asking... .wow , good price indeed, About half the mileage of mine. A looker indeed, but not crazy about the interior color...

I think I told you this before , but we ride with a guy from County Cork in our Fox Hunting group here in Central KY , small world

Hey Brad What do you think ....probably bid that high because it has the brass round nut on the power steering reservoir

No kidding, I know a guy with a ropey 911S, I suspect that it will get fixed up and be on sale before too long.

Ron, don't park it, that's a sure fire way to kill it. Instead, drive it, show it, enjoy it and hopefully it may pick up an owner before too long.

What are you buying next? I vote for a W108

I wont park it , I drive it now at least 50-75 miles a week, I make a visit to a city south of us for Business , I always pick a nice day to do it and take her out for exercise!
I'd like a 108 , or a Heckenflosse "finny"

Merc, I noticed that , I had one of those off a 380, later model, never seen one on a early 107

That UK example was well kept - engine bay had lots of original detail. I would have spent some time cleaning it though. Interesting how the RHD changed layout of some things but not a mirror image of our cars.

OK , all that Christmas money stuffed in your pockets -- time to make me an offer .
She is still for sale. I recently rebuilt the intake, and readjusted the timing, running oh so good

Do you have it for sale elsewhere?

If you are trying to sell it on this forum alone.....well...on most days all you hear is....Cricket Sound - YouTube
