Good Bye Pearl

Well, its done, bitter sweet for sure, but Pearl has moved on , real far on ...as in Chile
Yup , loaded her up today and watched her role down the road. Soon to be packed into a container and loaded on a ship and southbound. Way southbound...

Sold to a collector and Benz guy, owns several ,and wanted a 72 . We spoke many times and I feel she is going to a good home.
I got what I needed for her, learned a lot about international transactions and gained a new friend a half world away.

Now in search of a new project, my 99 E320 ( Queen Mary) will suit me for now , but vintage MB is in my blood

Thanks to all here, I'm not leaving , I can still offer adivce ( free haha) and with over 5000 posts, I wont be quiet

Thanks
Im kinda sick about it Graham, but it was the right thing to do. Too nice to just sit, and needed to go to someone that would treat her as she needs to be. I was able to accomplish getting a car to concours level , a dream I had for a long time.
I learned a lot and had fun at the same time, can't ask for more than that !

That's something very few are even capable of. I would be prouder than punch to complete a project to that level, as you accomplished. Very rare indeed! Nice pic of the car!

l am about to embark on the learning of a new Benz, and I'm excited to a small degree. I have become very comfortable with my old Benz in 14-years, and hate to see it go. But, the new dawn of a new Benz will begin the whole process once again.

Congrats...I guess.

I know that feeling, as well.

I sold my 71 Nova SS show car back in 89 after my first daughter was born and the rent was 3 months late.

So what you really want now is a Garage Find of an unknown Gullwing for peanuts

Glad to hear you're still keeping tabs on and helping out with all of us less knowledgeable guys

thanks all, and I am also looking for the proverbial "barn find" Lord knows I am surrounded by barns. Speaking of which , just the other day someone told me of an older MB diesel under boxes in a barn. Supposedly been there awhile, trying to substanciate the report...who knows

She was on the market a long time, kinda off , kinda on. The offers state side were pitiful as most think they are worth much less than they are. I know they are plentiful, but offers of 3K for that car were insulting. I had one serious buyer but backed out at last minute.
Outside of the states where these cars are less plentiful is the sellers market.
corvetts to Austrailia, and big blocks to Europe, SA likes european cars so I hear
In any respect it was quite a journey and learned about car inspections ( the inspector guy took 200 pictures and drove her hard) money transfers , skype, overseas calls , titles and bill of sales and customs rules. Evidently 4 weeks from now she will be in the hands of the new owner.
Thanks again everyone, and to you Vets out there, thanks for all you have done and do and I salute those that have given the ultimate sacrifice .

now ...where did I put my Hemmings sales catalog...
