1983 Euro 500sl: what size battery to buy?
Guys, this is my first post on this forum, and I’ve been searching like a madman.
I bought a relative’s Euro 500sl. It’s going to need some work, including a new battery. I bought a group 49 size, thinking that, if that battery fit a 380sl, it would fit this car. No dice. It’s way too big. I got the part number for a Mercedes battery, and I could go that route. I’ve been searching through BaT for a closeup of a battery, but that’s slim pickings too. One of those car from the auction has an H5. Can anyone help? |

Yes Frank! I’ve found this tool helpful in many…arenas.
The extra battery in my garage is 8 inches tall. Too tall. |

Use the Interstate Battery website to determine the correct group size battery for your 500SL.

Thanks for the replies folks! I don’t think I used the Interstate website. I will try that.

BWhitmore, I tried to search the Interstate website for a 500sl battery. They only had the 380sl as an option. I’m going to try an H6 next.
