DIY? Removing the instrument cluster 73 107

The bottom indicator lights on my instrument cluster are all delaminated. I want to sent the entire cluster to a speedo rebuild shop to be refreshed. How hard is it to take it out? And any reccomendations for places to refresh the cluster? Thanks

instrument cluster removal

Haynes manual 698 on the MB 350 & 450 sl/slc page 150, para. 11 Insturment cluster- removal and installation says, 2) "Remove the..steering wheel as per Chapt. 11. 3) Pry the inst. cluster carefully out of the dashboard. It is held in place by means of a rubber section". That means that it just pops into the dash mount. Run a small screwdriver around the lip between the cluster face and the dash.

To remove the cluster disconnect the oil line, the spedo cable, and a wiring connection. When you remove the steering wheel be sure to mark the steering shaft and the wneel so that when you reassemble them it lines up.

To replace the cluster reverse the video.
