I'm looking for the glove box latch mechanism. I really don't need the lock or the entire glove box door, but it might be easier to just take the whole door.

Dash looks good

That dash looks smooth. Any cracks? I'm not sure it would be worth my time to install though.

no cracks at all from what I've seen. I'll take a closer look over the weekend, it's a minnesota car so they don't get sun there

How to Describe

I attached one of your pictures cropped down to show the "B" pillar. I am interested in the vertical cloth tubes that run along the pillar where the door closes into the interior. You can see them in this picture. They don't really do anything but look nice when intact. There is one in the view at the front door openning and one at the rear. I think you need to take the plastic cover off the pillar to remove them.

What about the lower door trim?

I'd be interested in the right rear door panel (interior) also. Thanks. Good luck in the deconstruction. How is the engine? It could have a lot of life left at 168K.

I know what you are talking about, that should be my next project I tackle tomorrow. I couldn't have the door opened today since it was raining all day and STILL is...

If the rear view mirror is near perfect, I want it. By that I mean that looking at the mirror the entire reflective surface is good. Remove by pulling on the stem, maybe hard.

The headlight doors, the plastic part around the headlights. I want them if they look good. A few minor cracks are OK. Remove by unscrewing the knobs on the inside of the engine compartment.

More pictures of the car:

Bought this car for my manual transmission conversion.....

By the way, I think it is pretty cool that you are taking on a project of this magnitude for your car.

I'll check on the mirror tomorrow and post it up. The striker I will not take out yet since I need the door to close cause it's getting cold out and I just sit inside the car tearing everything out.

No rush on the striker. Mine is still working but aging. The small square plastic unit just below the opening is missing which controls the locking timing.

If you have never removed a door striker, it can be a real pain. Those little screws have locktite on them and some refuse to budge. I had to chisel a few out. Look underneath a few and learn to spot the ones that look only so-so. Don't even bother to remove the ones that are not perfect.

You have an excellent opportunity to learn how to take these cars apart. If you break something it is not the end of the world.

A note on the door panels. There are plastic tabs that hook into the door and will break if you pry out on them. You must lift up on the door panel to remove it without breaking it. There are plastic tabs are on the door pockets and the arm rests.
