1972 280SEL 4.5 Complete Parts Car
Listing this for a relative who is not Internet savvy.
1972 280SEL 4.5 that was stripped for paint in 1982 and has been sitting in a heated garage ever since. A true barn find. Car had 120k on it when it was parked and ran perfectly, but (obviously) hasn't been started in some time. Blue leather interior and he also has the original MB paint to repaint it, also blue. As stated, car has been stored in a heated garage so no rot or rust. LOTS of new parts, including fenders, rear quarter panels, gaskets. The entire car is there with all OEM MB parts (and receipts) from Holloway MB in Manchester, NH. Clean title is on hand as long as all service records. Car is located in Salem NH, 25 minutes north of Boston and 20 minutes south of Manchester. First town over the MA border along I93. We want this gone, no reasonable offer will be refused.

I think you need to name your price. Good luck.

$1500 sound reasonable?

it looks as if there is some rust on the car in the pic, on the rocker under the forward door, although it is difficult to tell; also, on the rear sub-frame rail and above the inner, rear fender well. i know it isn't your car but, do you happen to know why the quarters were removed?
for anything close to that price i would want to see detailed pictures of the usual problem areas to verify the "rust-free-ness" of the car, as well as some photos of the interior condition.

I'm told those two areas you're speaking of "are nothing to worry about"
Interior is full of the trim pieces and other bits for the car, but, as stated, everything is there. If you think the price is high then show up with a trailer and some cash, not gonna turn down anyone reasonable if they're about to take the thing away. Thanks for your reply.

I'm watching you struggle here - I'm not the best person to say what it is worth where you live (look at my location) but may be you need to lower the price for it to be interesting? My guess is that for the price you ask you could get one that is running in the States - is that right?

I don't think you see nearly as many MBZ from the 70s as you do from the 80s. $1500 sounds reasonable for a whole car that can be reassembled to working order. Just seems like a good/big project.

SOLD today. Final price was $500 to a really nice guy who's going to put it back together.
