FOR SALE: BRAND NEW ENGINE BLOCKS OM617 ENGINE
For Sale: BRAND NEW MB OM617 Turbo Engine Blocks, from MB. NOT refurbished, not rebuilt, but new with bearing caps, oil squirters, liners, still packed in MB factory packaging with some of the brown grease on the pictures. So, you don't have to worry about aftermarket junk parts going into your engine. All MB from MB factory.
$725.00 plus PayPal fees and shipping. They weigh around 167 pounds each so shipping should not be a killer. Can avoid PP fees by a US Postal money order. I am willing to drive up to 100 miles and meet off an exit from I-77, I-20, or I-95 if that helps. MB lists these for slightly under $3,000, so selling them for around 25%. Having just got back my engine from the machinist, it looks like new liners, machining, et cet., is in the ballpark of $700-ish except these are new and you don't have to worry about rebuilding a used block. I have three of them for sale. First pay, first gets them. These are ready for your pistons and crank, et cet. |

OK, trying to figure this one out. Got an email. I will accept a payment plan, if not exceeding 45 days. However, not sure what to do after 45 days other than refund the money if the full amount is not paid. Creates a few issues, such as reserving a part in a de facto sense but no consequence other than possibly turning a customer away if the payment plan falls through? I am thinking the first $50 bucks is not refundable so that creates incentive to not drag this out and maybe avoids the de facto reserving of parts. Just an issue that popped up.
So, a payment plan is OK. |

At risk of upsetting someone some where - I wouldn't mess about with payment plans. That is a recipe for loads of grief. I recommend a much simpler "I have the part" - "you have the cash"...

Yes, each engine block can be mounted on a small pallet, or moved onto a regular sized pallet. Plus, I figured out a way to mount a wood gusset on the front and back, with foam to mount the engine so its 100% stable (will not rock, et cet). And yes, each block can be covered / protected by a wood crate. I live around 5 miles from a warehouse and the dock person said I can have any wood, pallets, et cet which they put out in a pile. They have pallets of every size, crates which about fit perfectly over an engine, wood, et cet., foam, so I can mount and ship these to any spec wanted.
I have done payment plans for other folks who I have known for a while on the forums for injectors and never a problem. Considering $725 is not a horrible amount of money, especially for a new engine block ready to go, I think a payment plan not to exceed 45 days with the first $50.00 forfeited if the person disappears ... seems fair. That has been my history with folks who wanted parts, injectors, et cet. They came on really heavy, like gang busters desperately needing this or that part, and then after I got whatever, they disappeared from the forum altogether. I will take some more pictures shortly of the first one mounted per a Buyer's spec so folks get an idea. |

Well sounds like you've had better experiences of selling stuff than me.
I forgot to ask => Where on earth do you find these stones that are hiding these gems?

Update:
One sold ! THANK YOU ! One is "pending" -- so maybe, and assuming that comes through, That just leaves one left. I am thinking this is probably the last chance to buy one of these without spending $3K plus shipping if your dealer does not have one in stock. As for shipping, I am open to investigating all avenues whereas if you go through the dealer and you end up paying shipping, you are at their mercy as to how they decide to ship it. |

Update:
2nd one sold. THANK YOU ! Down to the last one. Right now, the shipping options have turned out to be win-win for folks. One is being driven 2 hours and buyer is driving 2 hours ... The other one is being shipped at either $150 to $200 from SC to TX. Getting quotes. I know my targeted price, but at least I have a quote in hand at $200. Once the 3rd one sells, I am thinking that will be the end of these for a while until another few pop up. On a side note, I am installing probably one of the last NOS cylinder heads from Germany on my rebuilt turbo engine. |

Nice find. I think you need to preserve the last block and make it into a coffee table. Then when you are 90 years old and blew a hole on the side of your engine while driving like a careless teenager, at least you still have a good block to use!

I was not 100% candid. I have a 4th. I am keeping one since I anticipate blowing up my R&D engine hotdogging it. Even though it will be a totally rebuilt engine, I am guessing if I make it out to Utah next year to get my name in the books (I should say try to get my name in the books), there's a chance things could go south. I can always remove the NOS head, although not 100% new any longer and install that on the last remaining known NOS block.

First transaction completed, and delivered. Drove around 140 miles, EZ Peezy. Buyer drove around the same distance, all highway. Got to enjoy the Clemson Football caravans zooming past me headed W on I-26 towards NC/KY/TN and on the way home, got to enjoy the USC caravans zooming past me headed E on I-26 towards Columbia. Overall, a nice easy morning.
As for shipping, found a pretty decent rep for a trucking company. Here are some quotes I got which should outline the costs. SC Zip 29229 to Houston area: $168 -- 1,000 miles or 5.9 cents a mile SC Zip 29229 to Los Angeles, CA $230 -- 2400 miles or a little over 10 cents a mile Assume delivery is to a non-residential setting. |

Reducing price to $700 plus shipping. Shipping is not horrible. The price to Houston is under $175 and price to LA is under $230, so that should give folks an idea depending on their location to 29229.
Already delivered one, other one ended up with half price being refunded and I did not keep anything as I indicated I would .. lol. crap happens. In any event, pretty decent deal to move them now. |
