I want to get all your opinion on what is the best wheel setup on my 190e that will not make the ride stiffer.Im planning on putting 16x7.5 or 17x7.5 and i want to lower the car via eibach and bilstein sport shock.Which is better in terms of ride 16x7.5(wrapped in 205x50) or 17x7.5(215x45).Any suggestion?thanx

190E rims

Wie geht's...I also have a 92 190E 2.6 with AMG - SLK rims (Called monoblocks, 5 -spokes) 17"x7.5" w/205/40/17 Sumitomo HTRzII tires with eibach springs and stock bilsteins and lowest pad height...no rubbing but they did rub with the 215/45's in the front. I think 205/45 would be good also. I have seen the staggered 7.5" front and 8.5" rear set-up too but forget about rotating them to balance out the wear. You can see my car at the 190Revoltion website under readers ride (Jim's 2.6) to see what they look like on a smoke silver car. They ride is still very nice and smooth but much more sporty, I live in new england so anything larger would of been a wrong move. Hope this helps....by the way; the rims/tires are for sale as is the car.

Do a plus-1 upgrade to 16X7.5 to be on the safe side and not make the ride too hard. If you don't like cleaning your wheels alot get a rim with a full face, like the AMG Aero or Aero II rather than thin spokes wheels. Thin Spokes wheels have less surface area and allow more brake dust to dirty up your wheels. I like the AMG Aero II Monoblock on 190E. However, AMG skipped the 16 inch size - go figure? There is a AMG Monoblock replica in 16 inch. Check out:

I have the 16x7.5 with 215/50/16s and the fenders rolled. I would recommend 205s to avoid any rubbing issues that might occur. Also, 17s work well to, but I already had an issue with bent wheels on 16s, couldn't imagine 17s or 18s. Good Luck.

My 1988 300TE has 16" AMG AERO wheels

When I bought the 1988 300TE at auction five years ago little did I know it has such hard to find wheels. It is fitted with 16" 7.5" AMG AERO rims that were bent at the time I got the car, since straightened, they were painted black (except the out rim and lip) and I kept the finish (the wagon is black also). I have since tried to find a spare matching rim without much luck. I believe these rims were purchased in 1990 by the original owner. Michelin MXV4 Plus 205 55R16 91V rated lasted about 50k miles. Anybody seen another 300E or TE with these wheels?
