Has anyone seen or done this and will it work on a stock 500E suspension...ie, not lowered. Is 10" max for der rear? I know offset would be critical to get it right. Any rubbing problems when turning the wheels? Of course, being a German, I would want a German wheel. BBS, AMG, Brabus etc. Your thoughts, comrades. Veilen danke.

I run 9X17 fronts and 10x17 rears with no clearance issues. I prefer the Fikse FM10. They are lighter, stonger and permit better brake cooling than the others you mentioned.

Hey Lou, tell the kid you've got custom-made rims and a totally trick fully adjustable rear suspension!!

Seriously though, BBS and OZ Racing have recommended fitments for the E500/500E that include an 8 or 8.5 x 17 front and 8 or 10 x 17 rear. AMG doesn't recommend that aggressive of a size though, maxing out at 8.5 with their monoblocks. I'm sure there are others...why don't you check out the Tire Rack?

I would/will check out the Tire Rack, but not before getting the opinions of real, bona-fide 500E owners first...and I doubt that the folks at the 'Rack' drive around in 500Es...I may be wrong. No offense, Luke. They're out to sell tires and rims...period. I am right? I don't need someone who drives a Kia telling me what will work on a Benz. Jagano? Enough then. By the way, I already have a car for the track events so light weight and brake cooling ability is not a huge concern to me...just looking for ideas on mass-produced, less than $3000 a set, type of aftermarket rims made just for the Mercedes marque. Lou, what are your offsets?, if you don't mind.

a 9" wheel with a 32mm offset will fit the front of a 500E provided it has enough brake clearance.

I do have a Euro spec MBZ not a Kia

Excellent, that's all I'm looking for

Thanx much , Luke. I'm comforted knowing that you drive a MBZ. Past experiences with some of your colleagues at 'The Rack' left me less than impressed and with a set of rims and tires that didn't fit properly. Poo-poo on your co-workers past performance, but maybe, we'll try again...if I stepped on your toes then I'm sorry. So anyway, you imported or built this euro-spec model?

I purchased it from the second owner who knew the first owner who imported it himself. I am currently doing a complete restoration. So, I do know the complete history of the car and have all the documents from the build sheet to the present. It is a 1985 500 SEC.
