I had purchased a set of AMG 15" Monoblocks from a wheel dealer (not the reputable type) who said that they would fit on my 91 300ce.
Needless to say even with spacers the wheels never drove properly and ruined my wheel bearings.

I am looking for 17's or 18's but this time I want to do it the right way.
Any recommendations? I like the Monoblock looks and have seen monoblock knock offs in 17's and 18's - is it worth saving the extra $$? or should I just go AMG?

I also do have a set of original AMG 15" monoblocks avail for sale using my stock rims for now

Well I can't tell you to go with replica's over amg or vice versa, but I can tell you that 17" looks killer on the 300Ce. I can't wait to put on Either the AMG Monoblocks in real or replica, or the Evo II's from bekkers. The Evo II's are a bit more expensive probably around the same cost as the AMG Monoblocks, but they are awesome looking wheels.

I think the sidewall on 18's would be a little thin for a 300CE, though 17's I think look great on the 124 chassis cars.

Check out tire rack - click above banner and check out their wheel selector.

I would go with 17" wheels. I like the look of the Evo II wheels (which I why I got the 7-spoke SLK wheels in 16") and think they would look great in the Titanium Finish. Its about the same price as a real AMG Monoblock and looks very different and do i need to say Aggresive. For tires, I have heard people getting the fenders rolled and using the 17x7.5 up front and 17x8.25 in the rear. Don't know if it would work, but its an option.

I'm running EvoII 17x7.5 and 8.25 shod with 215/45 and 235/40 on my '94 E420, no fender rolled whatsoever and it's lowered 1.25" all round with no problem, and I think 17" look awsome on W124, I've seen 18" AMG and BBS but too bulky!

Eddison, NJ ahhh ?!?
Go to NYC a lot?
I got the 17" Lorinsers on my CE. Looks good but... God damn roads in NYC a horoble, defenately lost on the smootheness of the ride. On top of that all, I bent one wheel in the pothole so bad no one so far wants to fix it. Unless you drive ur car arond NJ on the weekends only, do not go for the 18". They will not last long ! Side wall is to thin.Even with the 17" I some times drive like a its a mine field, looking out for all imperfections of the road.
