But rare, low miles, high HP, $190K when new, etc tells me that at $25K, as long as you don't pile on the miles, you'll do OK. It's all about the engines, though, they need to be thoroughly inspected. If they leak, or the heads are warped, or whatever, they're toast. Bruce |

I will be there, but probably won't waive my hand at them. This will be my 6th year in a row.

They look cool. I would love to have one if I could just find a source of free fuel!

IMHO A 500E is a better car.

Aside from collector value, which I don't believe in, these are just nice examples of 124s. With the availability of horsepower and bodywork these days, those cars are actually a little lame. They don't even have proper transmissions.
That said, they're pretty cool just because they are in such great shape! |

Of course compared to today they are lame, I drive a $20K 625HP Mercedes every day. But that's like saying a Testarossa is not a special collector car because it "only" has 380HP and newer Ferraris have over 500. These two cars have the same HP as a Testarossa from back then! So of course they are outdated by today's cars and technology, but to me that does not make them any less desired. In fact, geared for 180MPH, they will outrun MANY of today's supercars that are governed to 130 or 155 from the factory. Bruce |

fuel? i think you all are missing the real issue at hand, finding enough road
the ground effects are not that bad...they're appropriate and, while not timeless, considerably conservative when you compare it to other designs from the 80's, especially its competitors. anyway, its impressive that a small independent company could rearrange the alphabet, parting the sea's between 'F' and 'L' to make room for AMG. these cars represent the fervor of the 80's and the company's pursuit of performance under the luxury marquee.

i would agree. enough power, all factory (albeit two of them, no?) probably a little better balanced weightwise. but before i get accused of being a hater, occasionally one gets the urge to do something wonderfully illogical, indefensable, etc. ....but just plain crazy and fun. and i'm sure these admittedly aging, a little gaudy and remarkably thirsty cars would be a blast every second you were behind the wheel, be it flooring it (gently) at a stoplight, merging on the freeway, or just purring along at a conservative 85 on I-5, with the window down so you can enjoy the sound of v-8 perfection.
(that means i'll take one if anybody's feeling generous )
