Loctite 5900 Flange Sealant

I took delivery of a branded 300 ml (10.1 fl.oz) tube of Loctite 5900, which is the sealant spec'd and used by MB to make most gaskets, including the oil pans, on the M112 & M113 engines. It's far more than I need for the job, but at least is is properly branded to meet the requirements of the MB spec; and it can be sealed for future use. It is made in the USA.

The 50 ml MB labeled tubes of "sealant" (P/N: 003.989.98.20.10) did not mention Loctite anywhere on the tube, and it was made in Italy. It could have been a sealant for use in other areas for all I could tell from the label.

Bottom line is that I'd rather have way more than I need of the right stuff than the right amount of what might be the wrong stuff.

Wink

MB quit using the 5900 about 2-3 years ago & now use (supplies) Loctite 5970. Slightly longer shelf life & wider temp ranges.

MB part number 003-989-98-20-10=Loctite 5970
