MB just opened a service campaign for the "compressor" assembly on the 2006-08 W164 & R251 trucks.

Took a little time to get the supplier(s) of those things grabbed by the short hairs, it would appear. Thanks for info.

I've had the compressor replaced twice under warranty. In looking at the EPC-Net, I see there have been two upgrades in the P/N since my last one.

I wonder if I can get an upgrade done under warranty to the latest iteration? The current one still seems to still be working at 18,500 miles since it was replaced and a total of 43,500 miles on the car.

Just had this done at 48,500 miles. Even though the AirMatic seemed to be working fine, the dealer told me I didn't have the most up to date compressor and relay; so he replaced them under warranty on this Service Campaign.

Hopefully, this ends all future troubles. Warranty is almost done, and that compressor is not inexpensive!

Dutch - Maybe you know the answer to this question: I just had my '08 Gl320 CDI into the shop for door handle replacement and the SA told me there were no outstanding campaigns against the vehicle. My airmatic system has never acted up nor has any shop work ever been done on it. It, like yours, is getting toward the end of the warranty. Is there any way to find out if the this compressor campaign is applicable to my car (outside of asking the dealer again, of course)? I'd hate to let a chance to update the airmatic 'get away'!
Thanks

Here's the applicable Service campaign Info:

Model Years 2006-2008
Check Air Suspension Compressor and Replace if Necessary
I'm pretty sure that you have to bring it in with a "It doesn't seem to be acting right. Please check it out." or some similar complaint to get their attention. That's what I did.

I also had them put the latest transmission flash on it; and this seems to have finally resolved the hard 2->1 downshifts.

Unhappy 2008 GL 320 CDI

I have 2008 GL 320 CDI with 62,000 miles on mine... All in all…I still love this car, looking to replace it hasn’t been easy, I haven’t seen anything out there that will give me the safety, fuel mileage and ride. I don’t want to get rid of it; however when the Service Tech (SA) says that I need a “Slush Fund” for this car, my response is I paid for it upfront! My two major problems have been tires and Air Suspension. There are only two tire choices (Continental and Pirelli-All Season). I credit putting the Nitro in the tires for the longevity, first set 44,000 miles and on 20,000 for my second set and still going strong.
My “Air Suspension” issues replaced twice now, the latest 5/09... And it’s about $700.00 job when my extended warranty runs out in about 30,000 miles. Remember I bought it in Sept. 2008!
Great fuel mileage, driving from Maryland into DC (43 miles each way) I get about 22-23 miles, long road trips about 28-29 miles. And don’t forget the yearly windshield replacement, it’s $888.00.
