1998 ML320 Transmission

My wife's 98ML has been great, she really loves the little truck, and it is fun to drive. We have had great service for the last 67,000 miles but....
I am used to a 500SEC, and my transmission has very distinct shifts. Is there any way that the 5 speed adaptive in the ML can be programmed to shift harder? The 1/2 shift just seem mushy to me, the other shifts are very soft but not like 1/2. I have no reason to feel that there is a problem, just do not like the way it feels. (The 1/2 shift is good in low range!)

Thanks in advance.

There are adaptations in the transmission control unit. I'm unsure if the shift quality is changed, or just the shift points.
