I mean, it hasn't been an issue in this campaign and welfare was reformed to workfare years ago - I get the impression you've got some sort of racial ax to grind. So dude, whats up with the whole "welfare" gig you got going here? whose bigtime "welfare" is bugging you?

here is my view kirk. a person on wellfare is someone whos just living off of our tax dollars. NOT BLACK PEOPLE i have no problem with black people.

I didn't think we were having a big problem with that. I mean, we got a lot of people on unemployment and Social Security, but they paid in. You need to look into the Welfare Refrom Act of 1995. It puts work requirements on welfare receipients - an able bodied person can only be on welfare for a few months. If they don't find a job, they lose the welfare check, women with children included. Its worked really well. If your looking for government waste, it ain't there no mo.

Exactly what has changed with regard to haliburton since it was also the prime Contractor under the previous administration? I don't recall any objection then. If something is inappropriate, then it should be discussed. But this whispering campaign and innuendo is just too much. Like some of the fabrications in F911. If you just keep stirring people up, some of them will believe some of the lies.

I'm glad that your beliefs are all rooted in facts. You are far and away more advanced than I am. My beliefs are not well rooted and are a hodge-podge of suppositions, assumptions, prejudices, and hopes. Facts, I pull from the universe as needed to support my conjectures.

You set the bar awfully high for Mr. Bush--rendering the nation impervious to attack. I guess this means you're an avid supporter of star wars? Or is it just some attacks that concern you? A. Not everybody has the same priority. There are lots of people who think the gay marriage thingy is terribly important. Is it right to ignore them? Do you think government incapable of considering more than one thing at a time?

B. Bush took teh week off from campaigning. Heck, he might've stuck himself in the ol' jacuzzi, I don't know. But the gov continues, night and day. The prez needn't be in th eoval office moment to moment, that's just silly. Especially if he's as stupid and dangerous as this guy, right? Wouldn't the world be safer he he stayed in the jacuzzi?

C. Have you read the 9/11 thingy? I have just about finished reading it. They are no panacea, and Moses didn't get them from a burning bush. I hope to god we don't rush in to them without lengthy debate and long consideration--some of them are dangerous to civil liberty.

Nobody can ever educate somebody else. We educate ourselves with whatever ideas, facts, knowledge and opinion we wish to accept. Were it the other way, I'd order us up a pint of education, each.

The biggest thing that bothers me about the whole Halliburton thing is that Cheney has received a weekly check from them all during his tenure as VP. Couple that with the fact they landed the largest commericial contract ever awarded in the history of the world as a no-bid contract, and you have a rather stinky kettle of fish.

Didn't Bechtel Corporation land the same kind of contract during the Vietnam war (you remember, the one Started and waged by Democrats and ended by a Republican)? It seems that they got mucho US$$$ to dredge out CamRhon Bay and provide all sorts of support during the Johnson years.........

It would be interesting to see the connection between LBJ and Bechtel.......

Oh yeah, then of course, Reagan's Sec of State, George Shulz was chairman of Bechtel. Big corportations lik epeople who ahve directed big projects and government like people who have proven experience directing big companies. So there's a constant shifting of folks between the two. It makes fro great conspiracy theories.

But LBJ had no great need for subterfuge. He fat-cated his way through the TX political system and into Congress. Lots of his friends saw jail time. His character was so bent that he thought everybody was bent or bendable. Then he met, metaphorically, Ho Chi Minh. An unbent, and unbendable patriot who would stop at nothing for his goal.
