Does anyone know more about this vehicle. I read about it in Autoweek and from what I've read it seems worth looking into, basically a Land Rover Defender for around $20k. I've checked the website, www.crosslander4x4.com, and it has all the basics about it there, but could always know more.

I read about these a few years ago-they are NOT Defender's. They ARE Ford Ranger/Explorer mechanicals wrapped in military garb and used by South American/East European military forces. The rig is very heavy for the motor. The asking price, as I remember, was around 20K new. The Ranger/Explorer 4.0 V6 is a good enough motor, I've driven mine to the brink of destruction with no problems-but the tranny sucks. I had mine rebuilt at 120K and many others rebuilt earlier. It looks cool. But for the money you can actually pick up a used Defender 90.
